Cable card

I just read about Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 and I would like to know if U-Verse gives/sales a cable card.

You can find more info at http://news.cnet.com/8301-13845_3-20102522-58/get-a-dual-tuner-cablecard-adapter-for-$127/?tag=nl.e7...

I called technical service and they don't know what I'm talking about. One reason that I pasted the article.

Could someone tell me if they have a card and how to get one?

Or how can you record some programs on computer and not on DVR. I want to save some wood working programs (ch 20) and not have to delete them or watch them in the house and not in my workshop.

Thank you very much for your time. Hope I find an answer before the new season starts.

No, U-verse does not work with cable cards.

Try using a Happuage HD-PVR. They cost around $250 and connect to the U-Verse STB via component cables.

No problem.

Just remember that you will need a STB for the computer.

Yes. But your TV and computer will have to be on the same channel. If you have no problem with that then go for it.

Re: Cable card

What do you mean by the same channel?

Re: Cable card

The channel is selected on the STB and the audio/video for that channel is output to the TV and the slingbox.

Re: Cable card

Thank you. I got it (I hope)
View ch 9 and sound and video will be recorded on the PC.
Is that ok?

Re: Cable card

Yes - tune the STB to channel 9 and you can view channel 9 on the TV while it is being recorded on the PC.

If you want to record in wee hours, just record on the DVR. Then play it back to record it on the PC.

Re: Cable card

One more question. I have the SBR/DVR connected to the TV.

How can I connect the new box so I can record from the DVR to the PC?

Re: Cable card

You have a number of choices. Since the STB/DVR has multiple outputs you can use any of those not yet used.

If you want coax to both you can use a splitter from the one coax output.
