CABLE POWERED part 2

is there a little bit of low voltage electricity coming from the cable box (U-verse set) through the coax cable to the t v?  because of the long run in the cabel about 80'. I wish to add an in-line amplifier, in hopes of stopping the buffering that happens too often while watching live T. V.  the amp i am looking at gets it's power from the voltage that runs in the cable, it must have some juice running through the cable or it wont work.

Hi @willy_1,

There is usually some voltage that runs through the coax, but it should be minimal. We do not think it is enough to run an in-line amplifier.

I'm super curious why you would be running 80 feet of cable from your set top box to your tv?  That shouldn't effect buffering.  unless you are talking about running cable from the Residential gateway to the set top box?
