Why can't I get transferred to an att rep in the us?

I've read that if I request to be transferred to a rep in the us that I will be transferred. Have made 4 calls, left on hold by the first, disconnected by the second and was told they have no number to do this. I refuse to make one more call lasting minimum of one hour regardless of my question/concern.
