Uverse App Doesn’t Include Local Channels — not mentioned during sales call

As a new subscriber to ATT Uverse (from a Comcast customer) I was most disappointed to learn that you cannot watch the local network channels on the app.  This makes no sense.  And it most certainly was not mentioned when the salesman talked me through all of the offerings of our Uverse subscription.  In fact, I specificially asked if you could watch television on your mobile devices and he said yes.  He just conveniently did not include the exclusion of local network channels.  Since we are still in the 30 day review period, I am going to really rethink this.  I use my Ipad as a television to watch news, etc. while preparing dinner, etc.  This is really a significant flaw in the Uverse system.

Hey @tjaustin,

We are always looking to improve, so we appreciate your feedback on this! Streaming channel availability depends on whether we have the rights to broadcast it or not (among other legal things). Typically, if the channel/network has a streaming app available already, then those channels will also be available on our app.

However, DIRECTV NOW does offer some local channel streams. We are currently offering a free week trial!

Let us know if you have further questions or concerns!

I'm very dissatisfied with a reply that pushes from Uverse to DirecTV.  Please explain why you continue to support both products when Uverse is clearly limited more than Directv.

Some people just don't want satellite service, not wanting a dish on their home / pole-mounted in the yard, or having to deal with occasional weather interruptions. U-verse fills this niche for AT&T, allowing them to keep a customer they may otherwise lose to a competitor.

I too am very disappointed in Uverse for not streaming local channels.
I've gotten my mom a firetv stick and echo expecting that she could talk to
echo about what channel she wanted. I knew her TV and supposedly Uverse
were compatible with the technology. To say go to DirecTV for this service
is NOT the reply that should be acceptable. Stop selling Uverse if it
doesn't work.

This is a major flaw of this service!  I am very unhappy about this, with all other services I have had, I can always watch local TV from my iPad while in my home.  As far as the response that they do not have the rights to this, well then how would the cable providers I have had in the past have it?  Not going to keep this service once my contact is completed.

Just out of curiosity do you all have U-verse Internet as well?  When I had Gigapower, I was able to view some local programming on my LAN.

I switched to another ISP, and lost the ability to view local programming via the app.
