Just consider that U-verse is a brand that will most likely evolve into something called AT&T TV or AT&T Entertainment or simply DIRECTV. We don't know for sure and we are excited about what the possibilities will bring with TV's evolution. The products and technology is becoming more mobile and less about the TV receiver in your living room. Thanks for posting in the community forums and we love you being the best part of what makes our community great.

Did you read the actual statement from ATT instead of listening to someone who works on commission or writes an article taken from a statement out of context?
Appeared in the US Today March 21, 2017....
On or after May 30, 2017, the Uverse.com site may be retired and no longer available for video streaming. Additionally, on or after May 30, 2017, the U-verse app may be unavailable on the XBox One and Windows mobile operating systems as well. Customers will still be able to stream via the U-verse mobile app on all other supported platforms. More information will be available at Uverse.com.
So a portion of streaming services for certain devices is scheduled to be shutdown on May30, but Uverse IPTV is not.
Still installing new accounts with 2 year commitments, means Uverse TV should be available till AT LEAST April 1st 2019.
But expect some changes to come as streaming customers are directed to DirecTv Now (no dish required).
But watching your favorite shows on Uverse subscribed channels IN THE HOME on Uverse receivers is going to be around for awhile.

And did you look up the article in question, from Sept 20, 2016
Where the company clearly states they will be rebranding the service.
Some happened last year, Uverse Internet is now ATT Internet, Uverse VoIP is now ATT Phone.
Uverse Gigapower is now ATT Fi er, and Uverse IPTV is per article going to be changed elimating the Uverse Brand but not the service. Additionally, per article DirecTv names will also be elimatined in the future with TV services becoming ATT Entertainment.
Again these changes have been happening for the last 6 months, but the service will still be there for some time.
Remember Cingular (2000-2007) Did the cell phone service close? No, name changed to ATT Wireless in June 2007, 10 years later in 2017. the cell phone service has not died or been elimated. Just no longer recognized as Cingular.

Well as I began my statement with "As a matter of fact . . . .", fact being the publication in Yahoo Finance by Zacha Equity Research. I quoted the headline word for word. It goes on to say, and I quote" Per a recent FierceCable report, U.S. telecom behemoth AT&T is planning to completely phase out its long standing U-verse brand by May 30..."
The referenced Fierce Cable article in the Zachs Equitity Research "report" actually [accurately] stated that elements of "uverse.com" may be shut down on May 30th, which they lifted from an announcement from AT&T this week. Zachs half read out what they wanted to.

The only thing I read is that AT&T is ending its relationship with Yahoo and going to another service that will roll Uverse Com into that service as an app and close Uverse Com as it is today.

My friend across the street has DirecTV (it's only permitted in my condo complex if u don't put the dish on the roof which is owned by HOA). She has frequent "loss of signal" errors/blank screen whenever it rains or is windy. I've heard that same complaint from numerous DirecTV customers which makes it a non starter/show stopper for someone who likes to watch live sports on TV. I will go back to Comcast/Xfinity if U-verse is discontinued.
