When is Faster AT&T Speed Going to be Available? - Info from the AT&T Community

Internet_Fiber.jpg

Learn why faster AT&T speeds may not be available

First thing first, AT&T is working on expanding internet service as fast as possible. Unfortunately, a lot of planning, equipment, manpower, and time factor in. When are faster speeds coming? We do not have a date. What we can do is explain why it may not be available, yet, what to look out for, and how to research your address.

Gigabit Speeds, When Is It Coming?

We are continually expanding our fiber footprint to more households every day. If you’d like to check if service is available to you now or to sign up for a notification if it does become available in the future, please visit att.com/NotifyMe . We will send you a notification via your preferred method as soon as AT&T Fiber becomes available to you.

5 Gig internet is the next evolution of internet. At this time, we are working on expanding that footprint but AT&T does not have information on which neighborhoods will get it and when. Our support teams are also unable to give timelines as they can change.

If AT&T Fiber is available, you can order now!

Note:  AT&T Internet is not available in all areas, but AT&T is working to change that! Below, you will find information explaining:

  • Why services may not be available?
  • Other AT&T internet options?
  • News about AT&T Fiber expansions?

Why AT&T Internet is not available

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. As above, this could mean a neighbor may have it but service was not expanded to your home. We do not have information if or when it will be. If you have 1 Gig Fiber and want to upgrade to 5 Gig, please be patient with us we work to expand that footprint.
  3. The area is not built for AT&T Internet/ Fiber – some areas are not internet ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be since installation is factor dependent as mentioned at the top of the page. Distance and equipment can also play a factor in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services the area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!
  5. For some internet services, what is offered during the point of sale is an estimate. Most of the time, what is offered will be installed. To determine if service is available, our techs will perform tests beforehand and let you know of any issues.

Note: AT&T has two ways to bring traditional internet to your home, via copper lines or fiber. To get Gigabit speeds, fiber is required. In order to get internet and/or higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment and the equipment must be present in the area.

I see they are spraying lines, is AT&T on the way?

Maybe. Marking locations is a best practice for most outside crews. They are used to mark an area where a gas line may be or even a water line. On the other side, it could mean AT&T is going to place cable. Until cable and everything that powers internet is placed, our internal systems will not be updated. You can fill out a form, shown below, for more information.

This has been a decade battle with ATT to improve their service in my town. We get told over and over that's "it's" coming. The town as a whole has pretty much and have been planning on a source to come in and revamp the town and basically kick att out. ATT is constantly trying to buy new companies when they can't even take care of what they got, as far as Cell Phone service they are way behind Verizon, and way behind some of the cable companies on the internet. They don't give a flying cug about their customers. I'll give you an example, my town was the last in Texas to get touch tone dialing, yes I said it, touch tone freaking dialing. PPL here are fed up and they are looking for a Chattanooga style internet structure. I'm sick and beyond sick of att and their nickel and dime crap. I'll be switching all my services to someone else next week and then I'm going to all my family members to do the same. Tired of their double talk and straight up lies.

I have a similar fiber availability question. There is fiber on the pole at tthe end of my driveway and it has only one line connected and several available connections. It’s been that way for a few months but AT&T online and customer say that fiber isn’t available at my address.

Two AT&T servicemen have said that it looks available on the pole at my house.  The neighborhood has fiber.

Would someone just okay the servicemen install it at my house?

The U-verse is terrible at my house. A repairman will be back today for that.

thanks.

I am moving into a home in a new development on land where a house used to exist.  The original home was on a large corner lot that was subdivided into 7 units with a new private street.  The address of the original home, along with neighbors on either side of the lot/development, one on one street, the other on the other street around the corner, all are able to receive Uverse TV and 75Mbps internet speed.  However, when I enter the addresses of the new homes now on this site with address on the new private street, the max speed shown is 18Mbps and no Uverse TV available.  I believe the database just doesn't recognize the new addresses, but physically they are located where 75Mbps Uverse and TV should be available.  What would it take to get the database updated?  I've called support a few times now and various UVAT tickets filed, but no resolution.

If the issue isn't resolved, I will sadly need to resort to getting service from Comcast.

It took an email to the CEO to get my issue sorted out, but I finally have
fiber.

Well this experience has been extremely frustrating and a huge slap in my face.  I managed to get one of the vacant lot's address in my new development validated at the recommendation of the rep, who correctly put in a UVAT ticket for that address in lieu of mine since mine was blocked by the system for seeing a "duplicate" ticket due to previously unsuccessful tickets filed.  She thought it could help get my address validated in the future once my duplicate ticket expired.  Well, AT&T still refuses to accept my validation request at my address saying it's not available even though I successfully got my neighbor validated.  Reps upon reps have claimed to email/contact their superiors for resolution to no avail.  Rejected UVAT tickets have been escalated with no effect.  My neighboring lot (an empty vacant house still under construction) now can get Uverse TV and faster internet speeds thanks to me, yet AT&T still refuses to sign up a willing and ready to pay customer.  I must have called and spoken to at least 10 different reps over the course of the last 6 weeks.  I am completely befuddled and dumbfounded.

Issue was finally resolved by a very helpful phone rep who went the extra mile to get the address validated.  Thanks.
