Can't use AT&T login on any apps (ESPN, Fox Sports Go, etc.)

For several years we have been unable to use our AT&T login on various apps and websites, and while the Uverse workaround is sometimes helpful, that still leaves a huge hole where we aren't able to get programming we are paying for by virtue of subscription.

I've seen various posts over the years, but rarely is any advice contained in the thread.  Has anyone had the same issue and gotten it resolved?

Hey @ruckela1983,

Thank you so much for getting back to me with this information!

To determine if your account has been properly registered, you can access the myAT&T Login page and enter your phone number as the Access ID. If the password does not work, you can click the ‘Reset Password’ option below the boxes to enter your credentials.

If you are unable to locate your account, please click on ‘Create new ID’. While going through the set up process, you can ensure your account is linked to your wireless number. If an account is already linked to the number, an error message will display and prompt you to back to the login page.

Please let us know if this helps! Have a great day!

Hello @ruckela1983,

I am sorry to hear of the issues with logging in to applications! I absolutely understand the concern, especially when it is a service which is being paid for. I would be more than happy to provide some additional assistance with this!

To get started, I would like to verify some information with you. Are you able to access the account from any websites or applications, or does this happen every time? Do you get any error messages or pop ups indicating your login was unsuccessful?

I look forward to hearing back from you! Have a great day!

It happens every time, and the message is usually something like "not authorized" or similar.

How is logging into my account going to help the fact that my AT&T information does not work for third party provider sites as it should?

I can log in both with an email address and the original phone number on the account for AT&T's page.  However, neither login works on the relevant sites/apps, including WatchESPN and NBC Sports (which I just tried for both).  I received an error message for NBC and got a "this is not part of your subscription package" message for ESPN.  Clearly, AT&T does not have proper authorizations on the account.

Hey @ruckela1983,

Thanks for clarifying this information!

Can you please confirm, are you using your Mobility access ID or Uverse access ID when signing in? If your online services are not linked together, you may have more than one account. Also, it is important to be using the account owner’s access ID, as opposed to a secondary ID.

The best way to access the features of your subscription will be through using the account holder’s UVerse access ID and password in the applications you are trying to access.

I hope this helps! Have a great day!

We have two IDs that work to sign in and have been merged. Either will show our full suite of AT&T services.  Neither works with third party logins or has ever worked.  It's a known AT&T problem.

I'd be happy to send my information to someone who can review the account and tell me which login should work.  I  don't think it will work, of course.  Even when not using the phone number login, and instead using the assigned login, it does not work.  It says that is not part of my subscription.

In short, none of the logins work.  They all say ESPN, for example, is not part of our subscription.

Hello @ruckela1983,

I understand although your accounts are correctly set up, there is still an issue accessing the features of your subscription in third party applications, such as ESPN.

Due to the nature of the error message, I will be reaching out with a private message where we can continue working in a secure setting. Please keep an eye out in your Forum’s Inbox. I look forward to hearing from you!

Have a great day!

For others perusing with the same problem, AT&T ultimately decided I could only watch content through the Uverse app, and that I would not be able to watch content I pay for through third party apps.  This is an odd policy for AT&T, and probably not one universally applied, as I'm sure some can watch the content they pay for through WatchESPN and the like.

Ultimately, my suggestion is to seek out another provider who is willing to provide their customers with the content they pay for.  Perhaps YouTubeTV or Comcast.  I know with certainty that Comcast does not deny subscribers the option of watching "included with your subscription coverage" through third party apps.

This is ridiculous!  I have never had this same type of problem with WOW or Spectrum.  I watch CNN while at work from time to time, but cannot do that through their app.  I think that I will switch back to Spectrum because of this.  Thanks for updating us.

I have found a work around for most third party services except HBO GO. If you create a sub account and use that to login I have been able to use ESPN, Fox News, CNN, FX Now etc.

Hope this helps. AT&T Customer Service is truly awful.
