Not sure where your price/number came from but 19.95 (Basic) will only get you 3Mbps from Comcast, and that's only for 6 months. 29.95 will get you 20Mbps (Performance), again only for 6 months.

Performance Internet offer ends 1/31/13 and is limited to new residential customers. Not available in all areas. Limited to Performance Internet service to a single outlet. After first 6 months, monthly service charge goes to $44.99 for months 7-12. After 12 months, or if any service is cancelled or downgraded, regular charges apply. Comcast's current monthly service charge for Performance Internet ranges from $42.95 to $62.95, depending on area and other Comcast services (if any) received. PowerBoost provides bursts of download and upload speeds for the first 10 MB and 5 MB of a file, respectively. Actual speeds vary and are not guaranteed.

Cox for $19.95 will get you 3Mbps, $29.95 for 12Mbps,  $64.99 for 25Mbps

For one, Comcast uses complex algorithms to create the appearance of higher speeds for their customers. Verizon uses a Fiber to the household to give higher bandwidth, but at a contracted price for a period, to allow for a low price during that contract.

As for the others, those that have also done the same as Comcast, or are doing Channel bonding, are also creating the appearance of faster speeds, but in turn charging more for that Houdini act.

Going back to ATT catching up, they have their niche market, and those that want ATT as their ISP are choosing it for a reason. Once Pair bonding is out as a whole with the newer technology to be introduced in certain markets starting later this year, you are going to see faster speeds.

Matter of fact, Trendnet, just announced 1.8gbps wifi equipment at CES this week, which means 2gb port equipment is not far behind being released at lower prices to the consumers this year.

You are going to see changes in how ISP's serve their customers, but in a whole who really needs 100meg pipes, unless you are a business, or even 1000meg pips, unless you really need the bandwidth. Average consumers if they do not pirate music or dvd's, rarely get over 48-65 gb per month of use.

Cloud backup, baby. Anyone here easily has GBs to TBs of pictures, music, and movies. All of which is impractical to back up with today's ISP speeds (especially the ridiculously crippled upload speeds). 100Mbps or 1GBs connectivity changes that forever.

Even if Comcast and such didn't use Powerboost they still would be 2x or more faster than AT&T :/. Plus, AT&T is getting slapped around by Comcast, Cablevision, and Cox who have much better prices than AT&T. You could buy 50/15 on a $29.99 promo from Comcastvs $31.95 for 6/1(Including the forced rental) with U0verse. You could also get 25/4 bursts with 16/2 main speeds for $19.99 from Comcast vs $25.95 for 3/1 from AT&T. What about 50 Mbps down from Cablevision for $54.90 vs 24/3 from AT&T for $50.95. Their pricing is horrible here in the North East lol.

Comcast offers Performance for 19.99 for a year and 34.99 the 2nd here in the North East as a call in offer. They also have 29.99 for Blast which is 50/15. I'm refering to promo pricing. You could also get 160 channels, 50/15, and unlimited home phone from Comcast for $89.99(Again, another North East specific call in offer).

Actually they would not be faster.  They would be the same at their lower tiers.  The problem with CATV providers using Channel bonding, is now they are removing SD & HD channels from their lineups, to give more to their Internet consumers.  So in realitiy, they become more expensive in the long run.  Add to that, that CATV providers are capping their Internet customers, compared to those with Uverse.

100% incorrect.  May want to quit quoting their Internet info, and actually play advocate and get the real 411.  You may be in for a surprise as to the actual costs it will cost a customer to have their services in the long term.

Don't forget, I said these were promo prices comparing to AT&T promos.

16/2(25/4 bursts) off promo is $48.85 or $62.85IWithout bundle) and 50/15 is $58.85 bundled and $72.85 with internet only.

And if you think I'm lying, you're crazy :).

Even though the threads are old, these pop up as offers often.

Loving my $19.99 16/2 sustained Comcast :).

The offers aren't available online, they're only available on call in for the North East. I'm looking at available offers right now though for Comcast website and see Performance for $19.99 for 6 months and Blast 50/15 for $29.99 for 6 months. Not too hard to get back on the promo after it's gone or just use the call in offer for a year.
