2019 Women's World Cup not on U-Verse?

Various sources online said the Women's World Cup will be broadcast live by Fox Sports on its FS1 channel. However, AT&T's U-Verse, which carries FS1, says it's on FS+ and my package isn't subscribed to that Channel. How can I watch?

We'd be happy to shed some light on this, @bobryan317!

The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup is currently slated to be broadcast via the Fox Sports 1 channel. On eligible U-verse packages, Fox Sports 1 can be found on Ch. 652 (SD) and Ch. 1652 (HD).

If you have any other questions for us, we're always happy to help!

Hi, Alexander. Thanks for the note.

FYI, at the time I asked the question, the program guide showed Cup games broadcasting only on FS+, a channel to which I’m not subscribed. FS1 was carrying auto racing reruns at the time of the game.

The program guide has how been updated and shows the correct information.

For what it’s worth, over my many years of experience with AT&T, the U-Verse program guides are often updated very late or not at all on dynamic sports broadcasting. For example, I missed recording a recent NBA playoff game I very much wanted to see because at the time I recorded it, the Guide showed some generic description, such as “NBA Playoff,” which I then scheduled for recording. When the Guide was updated to reflect the names of the teams and the details of their records, the label changed to “NBA Western Conference Playoff,” or something like that. As a result, the DVR didn’t record the game, and I missed being able to watch the game after returning home.

Also, for what it’s worth, AT&T could really make its DVR interface a lot more appealing by allowing the viewer to reposition it on the screen. As it is, for most sports broadcast (NBA and NFL), the position of the progress bar obscures the scoreboard and time clocks, making it very difficult to use the fast-forward and reverse to find the part of the game he or she wishes to see. Naively, I’ve always assumed that that would be one of the first features to be improved with the U-Verse DVR interface since it was introduced many years ago.

We're glad the information got updated, @bobryan317!

Our guide information is dependent on the broadcaster providing us the information to use in our guide, and we try to make sure that we get the information as quickly as possible, but sometimes we receive incomplete or vague information from them. We can understand how frustrating this can be, since it does impact the ability to schedule recordings as you've mentioned, and we appreciate your feedback.

As far as the positioning of the progress bar on recording playbacks goes, we're always trying to make updates to the features and interface of our services, and we know that the current positioning can be inconvenient at times. Keep a look out for future updates for a more watch friendly experience.

If you have any other questions or concerns about our services, feel free to post back on the forums, and thank you for choosing AT&T!

I appreciate you taking the time to reply, but my sense remains that if AT&T is truly "always trying to make updates” for a "more watch-friendly experience,” the company's not trying very hard. We signed up for U-Verse in September of 2008, and I’m not sure the U-Verse interface has changed much, or even at all, over the course of those 11 years.

Still, thanks for the reply.

The guide is still today showing that the Spain vs South Africa game at 2:30 today is only on FS+. What gives?

Personally, I have no idea. However, I’m sure that AT&T would give you the same answer it gave me earlier in this thread: Any problems with late or incorrect program information in the guide are ALWAYS the programmer's fault, not AT&Ts.

Considering how clunky the U-Verse user interface is and how infrequently AT&T introduces improvements to consumer features and functionality, I’d guess that AT&T’s content providers would probably say that the tools for updating late program changes are extremely cumbersome and difficult to automate.

But who knows? U-Verse rarely offers useful information about its product roadmap and timelines, so we’re all guessing in the dark.

I have just recently switched from Xfinity to Uverse, and I have never seen this issue with their guides. Also, I can’t even watch the USA games as it’s not available on my package and yet I have the second highest Uverse channel. Instead replays of US open and nascar are on. Seriously, the World Cup is played ever 4 years!! And i can’t even upgrade to be able to actually see the games, although my friends with limited sudden link and Xfinity line ups have no problem. So disappointing.

Here in St. Louis Women’s FIFA is only on Fox local channel not HD. Programming for Fox HD is not FIFA. Just strange.
