self install

how come self install is not offered for uverse internet? I just ordered to make the switch from dsl and on the website it has topics for self install but when i talked to the customer service rep on the phone she said professional installation only of $99.

Professional installation is required for certain speeds (e.g. 18 Mbps and up).

Depending on type of install, some installs do not have self install option.

Suspect you either ordered higher speed tier and/or database labels address as requiring tech only install.

If order PRO (3), ELITE (6) or MAX (12) can generally order self install.
If order MAX PLUS (18), MAX TURBO (24), or POWER (45) can only be full tech install

Uverse is distance based, single pair installs on first levels can be customer self install.
If greater distance, needing bonded pair install (inid or 589) requires tech install even if only 3M PRO.

If Fiber To The Premise (FTTP) using an ONT is a tech install.

It may be that they reviewed your current DSL connection stats and decided your line needed "conditioning."  If you'd like, click this AT&T logoU-verse Customer Service link to send a Private Message (PM) to the AT&T customer service team to help you understand why you're not being offered self-install. You can expect a reply via return PM (the blue envelope envelopein the upper right hand corner of this site) in a business day or three.

This is a group of U-verse service specialists who are knowledgeable about U-verse and will stay with your problem until the end (instead of forgetting about it when the phone hits the cradle). Speed things up by including your Billing Account Number, and the best time and way to reach you.
