hiding channels

It would be nice if there were a way to more easily hide channels.  I'd love to be able to

  • hide channels I dont subscribe to
  • hide all non-english channels
  • hide all SD channels where a HD version is available

Re: hiding channels

rtphokie - Hide from the guide, right?
Do you know about favorites? All channels are hidden til you unhide them. While watching a channel hit the zoom/enter button (bottom right) hit OK. Channel is now a favorite. Direct enter number to add more channels (admittedly one at a time)

To view favorites guide - enter- down arrow ok. Ok, it's not one button, but it is almost tolerable.

Re: hiding channels

I'm aware of the procedure. It's just a pain to go through. So many channels and its not clear which ones are SD only.

Re: hiding channels

It's ridiculous of ATT to make you do this. It's customer abuse, especially with the endless shopping channels. Does anyone really do their shopping on TV? It's like if Google was a spammer while providing gmail services, then gave you some convoluted way to delete your spam.

1) Honestly, you have had TV service with a competitor who hid all the channels you didn't subscribe to?  Really?  It's called marketing, it's to get you to want these other channels you can't see.

2) Hiding them, while a pain, is pretty much a do it once and forget it activity.

3) People DO do their shopping on TV, or QVC would have folded a long time ago.

Re: hiding channels

This thread  started with a request for an "easier" way to hide channels.

Hiding channels is not a once and done... Uverse is constantly adding new channels at least one or two a week.   Even when you hide the new channels, frequently they come back again. Best example is the 3 Mayweather/Pacquio PPV channels that keep coming back up.

Also, if you're a multi box home, you have to do it on each box.

I am glad it's even there, but it would be nice if it was easier.  Perhaps the inverse logic option to "hide all" as opposed to "check all" would be a good solution.  Then you only have to check the channels you want to watch.  In the same way, an inverse logic option to 'View Checked' as opposed to "view unchecked" would also help, then you could just uncheck the new channels that keep popping up.

I suspect the "new channels being added" problem won't go away  As the poster says, it's 'marketing'

Verizon FIOS's hide was  easier to manage channells (at least it was a few years ago).

This AT&T Cisco equipment is nice, but the software running on them isn't as mature or as feature rich as FIOS.    I miss FIOS sometimes, but I've gotten used ot Uverse.  It has it's pros.
