can't get uverse to recognize my pc

I'd like to be able to show photos residing on my pc on the TV screen via Uverse.  I've installed windows media center, have the latest windows media player, and am running windows 8.1pro.  I've tried the wizard, enabled sharing and streaming, but the interactive Uverse app just won't recognize the pc.  I can get to "add a device" and see a four digit number, but then the pc wants an 8 digit number.

Here is a support article to set it up with Win 7: http://www.att.com/support_media/images/pdf/uverse/Media_Share_User_Guide7.pdf

XP: http://www.att.com/support_media/images/pdf/uverse/Media_Share_QSG_for_XP.pdf

Vista: http://www.att.com/support_media/images/pdf/uverse/Media_Share_QSG_for_Vista.pdf

When you set this up you don't need to use Home Network which I think is what your referring to when you say it wants a 8 digit code on the computer.  Follow the instructions above for your operating system.

I'm embarassed to say I solved the problem myself.  When Uverse was set up, the network router was piggy-backed into my Belkin router-so in effect I had two wireless networks.  When I changed from my home wireless network to the Uverse network, my laptop was recognized, and I succeeded in gaining access to photos on the TV screen.

Thank you for your reply to my post.
