Thanks, oz, I'll tell the kid to try that.  Will let you know what happens on the PC side as well.

Just no need to have more than one printer these days, IMO.  I do have a duplicate that I bought for myself sitting in the closet as a spare.

Linux will make an outdated computer run almost as fast as a new one since it has never been a resource hog.

I setup both of my laptops, my daughter's laptop, and my desktop as dual boot computers.  Running Linux and Windows.  There are times (although they are pretty rare) that I need to boot into Windows.  For the most part we are loving Ubuntu around here.  My desktop takes about 20 - 25 minutes to completely boot into Windows.  It boots into Ubuntu in about 30 seconds.  Me like.Smiley LOL

When I retired my old HP desktop I decided to completely move it to Linux and of course I found a plethora of good, free software....including photo management apps.   It was fun.  Then, one day I walked into the local Staples store and there sat a stack of HP bundles which I just could not resist...at a price I couldn't pass up.  So I bought one.  That was about 1 1/2 years ago.  Then I gave the old one to a friend down in Texas to replace his really old unit.  We reloaded the Win XP that came with it and we added a bigger power supply and a new higher powered video card so he can run his high powered flight simulator programs.  I had already replaced the single core Athalon chip with a dual core Athalon unit.  Oh well....I've got enough PC's around here....more than I can use.

Ubuntu 12.04 has had a lot of improvements and is well worth giving it a try a lot including myself run in a dual boot configuration with Windows 7 either by partition or using Wubi.
