U-verse internet help!!
Edited by johnsonad85 on Feb 19, 2014 at 10:57:50 AM

I recently bought a house in the country.  No way to get high speed from anybody.

A tower got put up in my home town Gilman, Wisconsin which is only 5 miles as a crow flies to my house.

I went from 0 to 1 bar on my at&t phone to 5 full bars anywhere on my land.

They are telling me that I cannot get U-verse because of my location.  Is there a possible solution?  A friend came over with his cell phone and ran a hot spot that worked fine but U-verse is something that I would like to get.

Any help out there?!

Thanks
Aj

I Googled "broadband for gilman wisconsin" and got the following:

https://www.google.com/#q=broadband+for+gilman+wisconsin

Since you live out in the country fast satellite is probably your best option while U-verse is fiber optic cable in the ground which probably isn't available in your area since so far it is only in about 20% of the country and that limited to major metro markets for the most part.

While AT&T has a partnership with Direct TV (a satelite provider) I think their packages are quite different that U-verse at lease in some respects.

So the U-verse isn't through via the Air yet fiber optic ??  I guess I am looking or was told that it was like a hot spot like on a cell phone.

If no hard wired options exist, consider 4G LTE wireless internet, otherwise satellite internet
