Transfer charge? Please help

I have been a loyal Uverse customer for mover 4 years. I am in the process of moving and called into customer service today to initiate the process. Everything went without a hitch, but I was told I would be charged $49 transfer service fee. I actually moved just 6 months ago and was not charged that fee at that time. I asked if this could be waived but was told no. Is this new? Is there a way to waive this fee? It seems random since there was no fee for my very recent move.

I believe this is an "activation" fee to turn up the services at your new address.

 

I would recommend that you send a Private Message to the ATTU-verseCare Community Specialist team.  One of the specialists will respond to your PM shortly.  Please look for the flashing envelope at the top right of the page for your response from a team member.

 

See if one of the specialists can explain it and help you out.

I understand the logic BUT this was not charged just 6 months ago with my previous move. The only difference between then and now is that I was month-to-month prior and now I am under promotional contract. So, it seems to me they didn't want to loose me as a customer 6 months ago and now they figure I am under contract and not going anywhere so lets apply the fee. If there is a fee, this should apply in all circumstances. I may not want to resign anythingthing long term with U Verse again if this is the case.
