I bought a new remote control for the uVerse unit in October. At random times when I fast forward through a recorded show, I get the uVerse On-Demand screen when I release the ff button. The on-line chat person was useless. I said I was dissatisfied with the response on the survey when I ended the chat. Then I got a call from another ATT rep. He said that the fast forward button on the remote control doesn't work when you watch recorded programs. I asked him how I should skip the commercials and he said I couldn't, that I have to watch them. Really? I've been fast forwarding through commercials for years! Talk about bad customer service!

I was having the same problem but it was nothing to do with the remote. I re-booted the Uverse receiver and DVR and have not had the problem since.
If re-booting the receiver and DVR don't do the trick you can reboot the whole system.
1) Unplug all receivers from power
2) Unplug the AT&T router from power
3) Plug the Router back in and wait for all green lights (Operational)
4) Plug in just the DVR and let it come up so you can see a picture on the TV connected to it
5) Plug in the rest of the recievers.
Check for proper operation. Post back if you still have the issue.

AT&T called me about the problem and sent me a new remote. I think the remote had a short. At the end of its 'life' it started randomly shutting off the TV.
