Purchased Modem vs. Lease

Purchased Modem vs. Lease

I was told when I signed up for service that I would be leasing my modem at a rate of $6 of month. I received my first bill and notice a charge for the gateway modem. I called a CR and was told that I would have to purchase the modem for $100. I then called today to cancel and was told that the modem is mine and I have to keep it? It has been less than 30 days from my install. I am already paying and losing the $100 installation fee. Do I have any options here? Does anyone want to buy a modem?

Just joking above......but, I would recommend that you send a Private Message to the ATTU-verseCare Community Specialist team.  One of the specialists will respond to your PM shortly.  Please look for the flashing envelope at the top right of the page for your response from a team member.

Hello, Armyof100

We have received your private message and we will be glad to send you a return label. Normally when customers cancel all U-verse services and a 30-day money-back guarantee offer applies, they can return the purchased equipment via USPS with the return label we generate. Standby and I'll gather your account information in the PM so we can assist you further. Thank you! Smiley Happy

If you encounter any issues with your service or equipment, I recommend checking out our Troubleshoot & Resolve solutions to help diagnose the issue.
