Overcharged for cancelled account and no refund!

Overcharged for cancelled account and no refund!

I used AT&T wireless for a few days and then closed it but I got a bill for the full month. I paid in full, expecting a refund later. But it never happened. I called them up, but was told because the account was closed I couldn't get a refund. How is that possible? Why cannot AT&T simply issume me a check for the days I didn't use the service? People including myself cancel services all the time, and they always get a check. Is AT&T robbing me?

no the final bill is for a full month, it is not pro-rated, if you canceled 1 day after  the start of the billing cycle you get billed for the entire month

Thanks for your reply. But how is it possible? I've cancelled AT&T wireless service before and they gave me a check afterwards.

Re: Overcharged for cancelled account and no refund!

I have had the same problem although I have been a customer for years. I paid my bill in full but ended up canceling mid-month.  Like you, I expected a refund for the unused days but when I called I and was told by ATT that I could not get a refund.  I was shocked as I've always gotten a refund for unused portions of monthly periods whether it was home phone, internet, tv, or cell phone. If I call again and ask for the manager will I get a different answer?

Probably not. It is in the terms of service that you agreed to when you signed your last contract, that AT&T will not prorate final months billings.
You can try, but don't bank on it.
