Origi responded from anywhere in room including wall. New one must be pointed directly at box.

Original DVR recently replaced with ISB7500 and remote S10-S3. Old dvd/remote responded from anywhere in room including wall. New one must be pointed directly at box

Do you have a Point Anywhere Remote Control?

Was there an USB dongle plugged in your orginal box?

Was the USB dongle transfered to your replacement box?

jhj0629 - Do you still have the old remote?? Or, others in the house?? Try swapping to see if it is the remote or the new DVR. If it appears to be the remote, try fresh batteries.

If the previous set worked correctly without needing to be carefully pointed, you were very fortunate because that usually produces a lot of errors.

I realize you did not change anything in the room, but the new equipment could respond differently to the previous conditions. You need to isolate the remote and DVR from outside to see how it responds - "tent" between the DVR and the remote in your hand with a blanket over a pole to see how it works.

You were fortunate to not be concerned about where to point the remote, previously. Your current experience is probably more common. But, you could ask for a new DVR, once you find that it is the DVR. Or, ask for a new remote if you find that is the cause. Or, you could swap the DVR with another STB.
