New Replacement Gateway?

I was writing to ask if there was any method of replacing my U-Verse gateway free of charge.  

 

Back a few months ago, my internet service went down for a day, and a technician came back to see if there were any repairs that needed to be done.  He ended up taking my old 2Wire gateway and gave me a new gateway from Pace, but it turns out the main source of the service failure had more to do with the fiber hub that's located at a nearby high school.  He did not return to my house nor did he return the 2Wire gateway after checking the hub, and I kept the Pace gateway since the connection came back.

 

My main issue is that the new Pace gateway performs a whole lot worse than the 2Wire gateway ever did.  At first, I wondered if it was just a by-product of the loss of service, but there doesn't seem to be much issue with it.  I can still connect online with a wired connection, but the connection is very unstable when using a wireless connection through the gateway.  There are a lot more drops in connections, and connection speeds with wifi are terrible.  I have since had to use a separate router for wifi since the gateway's wireless capabilities are so poor.

 

I don't believe it is a problem with the source of the connection, but rather, the Pace gateway is just not a good model.  I never had a problem when using the 2Wire gateway with my internet service.  While the technician did not leave a number to return his calls, I've decided to look for help in replacing this gateway.  Does anybody have any advice in how to replace this?

I would recommend that you send a Private Message to the ATTU-verseCare Community Specialist team.  One of the specialists will respond to your PM shortly.  Please look for the flashing envelope at the top right of the page for your response from a team member.

 

One of the team members can investigate why your having issues with the router you have now.  They can run tests and determine if a replacement is needed.  Oh, and I doubt you can get your physical old one back.  It's probably long gone.
