Faster Internet than Advertised

I've been paying for an internet speed of 18mbps and been getting 18mbps.  I ran a speedtest today and now I'm consistently getting 21mbps.  Nothing has changed inside of the house.

Your link isn't dead, just broken.

I'd check your bill and make sure what you are actually paying for, if it is Max Turbo, you're paying for 24Mbps, if it's Max Plus, I'd enjoy my speeds.

Have not heard of implementation yet but was talk awhile ago that 32M profiles were going to be increased to 45 M profile.
The max turbo accounts accounts were auto moved to 30M internet and max plus (18) would be auto moved to 24 without price increase.
This helps to explain your experience, but again have not heard of official update, perhaps your a part of a test market before widespread release.

There have been some reports over at Dslreports.com where people have been getting higher than advertised now.

"Anyone seeing faster speeds on there 24/3 connection. Before I was barely able to pull in 23 to 23.5. Now I am seeing a consistent 25.5 down and 2.90 up. I am in SoCal"

"Hmm, I'm getting 25.38 down and 2.87 up. I've never managed to get over 23 down and 2.5 up before."

After someone switched out their 3600 to a 3801:

"I am on 12mbit max uverse, and after the upgrade, I'm getting above spec at 12.5mbit on speed tests.

Before, on the 3600, I was getting just 11.45 on the same speed test."

I'm very happy that AT&T is now giving customers their real(Non terms/conditions) advertised speeds.

I just ran SpeedTest.net and it reported my download speed at 21.63 mbps.  Upload was pretty much same as it has been....1.48 mbps.  We subscribe to the 18 mbps speed.  This measurement of 21.63 was taken on my laptop connected via my wireless router to the AT&T RG.

In the past our speeds were usually in the 16 to 16.25 mbps range.

My speed test is coming up just a whisper above the 12/1.5 that is what my contracted tier is supposed to provide.  12.54/1.51 was my last test.

They changed some of the overhead to help increase speeds so that customers would be getting closer to their speed tiers and even a little above.
