Email, can't send or receive.

Switched from DSL to Uverse (9-23-13) and have not been able to send or receive email. When I bring windows mail up, I get a small "windows security" window asking me to log on. When I do, the same log on window reappears. I've tried changing passwords, but that hasn't helped. I thought I could to my email through att.yahoo, but when I log into that site, a window appears saying login invalid. I'm at wits end. Tried calling ATT and got a voice machine who changed my password and that didn't work. Kept getting invaid messages.

I had the same problem today! Call ATT and they couldn't get it to work either.  But now I tried loging in and it work.  I think email was experiecing and outage today

I get a 0x80040102 error (The requested operation cannot be performed on this account) when receiving att.net e-mail using Outlook 2013.  I followed the instructions on the earlier post.  How can I eliminate such error?

If you are using MS Outlook, 2003, 2007, 2010 or 2013 follow the steps in this article.  Step 16 is an important one to check

Morgan,

 

I am new to the community, but I am also having problems with my email.  I can access my account and email via the web, but all of a sudden, my Thunderbird account is rejecting the password.  That is the exact same one that I use to access it on the web.  I have not changed any settings.  This is frustrating.  Is there a solution?  Please advise.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. I'm not too familiar with the Thunderbird email client but, I'll be glad to research why this is happening.

What version of Thunderbird are you using? Is it Thunderbird 5, 13, 17? Have you changed the email password recently? Also, do any other email clients give out the same error message (Ex: iPhone/Android Mail app, Outlook, Mac Mail, etc.)?

I am also getting the same error message on one of my Att.prodigy accounts. I cannot send but i can receive messages.  Account is set up like  The other that is working fine. Accounts are set up the same.  Please suggest solution.

Hopefully this will help:

Windows Live Mail Setup For U-verse

 

You can open Windows Live Mail by typing it in the Start menu or from All Programs > Windows Live > Windows Live Mail.

  1. After you have opened Windows Live Mail, select Add e-mail account. Note: If you are using Windows Live Mail for the first time, it will automatically pop open the Add e-mail account window.
  2. In the email address field, type your full AT&T email address.
  3. In the password field, type the password associated with your AT&T email address.
  4. Place a checkmark next to Remember password.
  5. In the Display name field, type your name the way that you want it to appear to other people when you send an email.
  6. Place a checkmark next to Manually configure server settings for this e-mail account.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Next to My incoming mail server is a___, select POP3.
  9. In the Incoming server field, type pop.att.yahoo.com.
  10. Under the Incoming server field, place a checkmark next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
  11. In the Port field to the right of Incoming server, type 995.
  12. Next to Log on using, select Clear text authentication.
  13. In the Login ID field, type your full AT&T email address. Note: This field will default to only the first part of your email address. You must type in the full address, including the domain (e.g., test@att.net).
  14. In the Outgoing server field, type smtp.att.yahoo.com.
  15. Under the Outgoing server field, place a checkmark next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
  16. In the Port field to the right of Outgoing server, type 465.
  17. Place a checkmark next to My outgoing server requires authentication.
  18. Select Next.
  19. If this will be the account you send mail from the most, place a checkmark next to Set this account as the default mail account.
  20. Select Finish.

Also, if the setting that BeeBeeSA provided do not work, you can use

inbound.att.net instead of pop.att.yahoo.com

outbound.att.net instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com

Here is what works for one of my clients running Windows & with MS Office versikons 2013 and 2007 running Uverse and ATT's business class email:

 

Incoming mail server: webmail2.attbizclassemail.com

Outgoing mail server: 198.171.239.252

 

POP SSL Port: 993

 

SMTP SSL Port 465

 

 

The POP (incoming mail) setting used to be webmail.attbizclassemail.com

SMTP (outgoing) used to be smtp.bizclassemail.com

 

It took at least an hour or two on the phone and no small amount of frustration to find the right person at ATT support to pass that along to me.  Good luck!
