Deposit needed in the mail, but didn't need one when i sign up

I got a leter in the mail says i may have limitations on services and need to pay a deposit. also left equalfax number too.

 

I got the service 5 days ago in a att store and guy told me i didn't have to pay a deposit.

 

what's the deal here?

Were you required to sign up for automatic payments? If I remember correctly, AT&T sends the same credit letter to everyone with any sort of credit-based requirement.

Att store says they send out the credit check results to evrryone, they want bill me later for a deposit, im good with att
