DVR Swap - Received VIP1225

I had a tech come out and swap a defective DVR with a new one and got a VIP 1225. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought on account of me having U450, I would get the higher capacity VIP 2250. Is that not the case? Thanks

Re: DVR Swap - Received VIP1225

ATT has listed the original 1216 (ufamily, u200) as smaller DVR and 1225 (u300, gf u400, u450z) original larger DVR.
The 2250 was an added larger capacity DVR late 2011. Either 1225 or 2250 qualifies as larger

Techs generally replace like with like providing have them on truck.
If all the tech had was 1216s and 1225 that's all the tech could provide.

There have been times when fully stocked had no 2250 in garage or truck...
Other times when all I had was 2250s, so even a ufamily install receive 2250.

As most techs are issued 2 small DVR and 3 large DVR.
If tech only had 1 2250, did an install requiring a 2250, any repairs till restocked would be 1225.

As stated if bothered call, chat or PM for replacement, could be shipped, no guarantee to be 2250.
Could be another 4 hour repair window, no guarantee that tech would have a 2250.

Or wait till next time the DVR fails and have replaced then.

The DVR is a leased, short term temporary storage device

The other day replaced a 1216 on a u450 account (red X two dots), they had the 1216 for 18 months.
The customer was more concerned with lost recordings not watched than size of recording space.

Enjoy the new year and whichever DVR you decide to stay with.

Oh, I long for the day of cloud storage...it's gotta be soon! Upload shows to a cloud in order to save them during a DVR swap.

Re: DVR Swap - Received VIP1225

If the DVR hard drive is kaput (red X, two dots) how does that help?
If you subscribe to Elite internet (6/1) how long to upload 60 hrs HD and download back?

If cloud storage happens it will likely be to replace having a DVR in the home.
Accessible only as long as account is active, in good standing as in the current model.
