All I want to do is cancel HBO. Why does this turn into chore ?

All I want to do is cancel HBO. Why does this turn into chore ?

Took the 3 month HBO promotion.  I'm well beyond that point and have been paying the additional monthly price.  Don't watch it enough to justify keeping it.  All I want to do is CANCEL it.  Frustration has set in after looking through all the overload of stuff on the U-verse site to cancel it.   I can add all kinds of stuff to my account on line but I can't get rid of any of it on line.  Why am I being forced to call someone just to cancel something ?  When I took the offer I did'nt have to call anyone. Strange.  I don't want to speak with a "Customer Care" representative just to say please cancel my HBO at the end of my current billing cycle.

Hi,

I'm sorry to know that you're unable to cancel the HBO package online. I would request you to contact AT&T Uverse specialist through online chat support (24/7) or through calling the voice call specialist at 1(800)288-2020. They are available Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Central; Saturday 8:00am to 4:00pm Central.

Thank you.

Unfotunately, AT&T does not allow downgrades of any sort online. I know it's no consolation, but my cable provider doesn't either.

You can call 800 288-202 anytime M-F 8 am -7 pm or Saturday 8 am -5 pm and request anyone in billing or customer service to make the change for you (note: times are your local times and technical support can not make the change, so make sure not to request them).

Sorry to say but I believe this is the norm for all TV providers. You can add services online but you have to call to cancel or remove anything. I know Directv makes you call.

Can you not change your plan on your tv.  I thought to downgrade all you have to do is go the the channel on your tv and uncheck HBO.  Correct me if I am wrong.

As far as I know, you cannot downgrade from channel 9910.  If you look at the instructions they use the terms "upgrade" and "add," not "change" or "drop."  I know I tried to drop one that way once and it did not work.

As you might imagine, no company wants to make it too easy for you to stop buying from them.  They'd like the opportunity to see if they can talk you into something else, or continue at a discounted rate in some sort of upgraded package.

But just dont call around 6:30 it will take them half an hour to answer and then they tell you they can't help you the system is down. I was just on the phone with att he was starting the process tells me to hold and he hung up on me never called me back that took 40 minutes. I called right back another 30 minutes waiting just so the can tell me the system is down I cant cancel my service it was still 10 minutes till 7. I have to call back.

I, too, am trying to cancel HBO and Cinemax. I never watch these channels because the programming is uninteresting. Why does it take an act of Congress to remove premium channels?? I have been waiting on "chat" for over 30 minutes because AT&T has office hours that are coincidently the same as every other American worker who has a day job. AT&T why are you so, so sucky??
