Access forbidden

This is interesting.  NASA promoted this web site address to see raw images from the Mars Rover Curiosity.  Earlier this morning it worked just fine.  Now I get the "Forbidden" messages.  Can you experts give me a hint why this might be?

UPDATE:

Forget it.  Now, all of a sudden, it works OK.   I'm guessing their servers are more than slightly overloaded right now.

Re: Access forbidden

It was probably just the aliens on the "Angry Red Planet" blocking the signal Phil. Robot LOL

Seriously, thanks for the link and this Mars mission is real interesting. I couldn't tell what the raw images were and found out many were just the shadow of "Curiosity" as can be seen below.

I liked that movie.  My brother and I first saw it when we were about 8 or 9 years old.

Re: Access forbidden

My favorite was Forbidden Planet with Walter Pidgeon, Earl Holliman, a very serious Leslie Nielsen, a very hot Anne Francis (yowzersSmiley Wink), and Robby the Robot (he coulda put Jack Daniels out of business).Smiley Very Happy

Same here I always thought the movie was ahead of its time and so really expensive audio gear uses the name Krell.

Re: Access forbidden

Agree, the Forbidden Planet was a great movie!

When I was really young, about 6, my aunt was babysitting my older brother (9) and me. Guess she had better things to do so dumped us off by ourselves at the local movie theater. The new movie at the time, "Earth vs The Flying Saucers" was playing and it scared the crap out of me! Lots of talk about flying saucers back then and I had nightmares for about a year on that one! LOL, but not all that funny at the time and I used to sleep walk too! Smiley Surprised

Here's another good old one; "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Michael Rennie. I have the BRD of the remake starting Keanu Reeves and it doesn't hold a candle to the original movie.

Re: Access forbidden

Not sure but I think I may have Forbidden Planet in my VHS tape collection.  I'll have to dig in some boxes.  Uni....I know I have the original Day the Earth Stood Still.  Saw it in the theater on its first run on a guys' night out with my pop....so long ago.  Absolutely a classic and Michael Rennie was one of my very favorite actors....one of those voices that we radio/tv guys would kill for.

For SPD:

It is unreal here.  Rain moves in from west....and breaks up and disappears before it gets to us.  Another line of moderately heavy stuff is in Western Kansas stretched from N to S state lines and is moving slowly eastward.  Dare I hope?

I had a wonderful experience very early in the morning on Thursday.  Fell asleep in my big chair Wed. night and did not wake up until about 4 AM.   So I hooked the Alf up to his leash and we went outside for his final dump.   I looked off to the east....absolutely crystal clear sky and still very dark.  The beautiful constellation, Orion, had risen and there with it was a brilliant Jupiter and even more brilliant Venus....against that black sky.  It was breath taking.....a wonderful site for an astronomy nut like me.  Geez it was gorgeous.  Wish I was equipped for taking astronomical images with my Canon DSLR.

Re: Access forbidden

Thanks, Phil, I'll show my crew and let them know that's what they're supposed to do (instead of sleep 22 hrs. a day).

We got 2" yesterday in about an hour's time, more coming, and we could use it.  Not nearly as dry as last year, though!

Every time I see this thread, I think it pertains to a post in the forum, LOL!

Re: Access forbidden

I was reading Uni's post about spaceships on earth and was thinking the same thing. How did the thread get so far off topic. I had to go to the top to see what the thread was about. It was spaceships on Mars. We can bring any topic back to Earth.
