Access Local Only with Vista Wireless

I can't access internet with my Vista laptop. It says 'Access Local Only' although I can manage my router (RG) wirelessly which means I can connect to RG but not to internet. Anyone having similar problem ? Any solution will be appreciated..

One more thing, I can access internet with another laptop having XP, from my iPhone as well as from the same Vista laptop (but only wired)

Re: Access Local Only with Vista Wireless

I tried to log in here on my vista laptop and could not get connected.  I got on my XP computer and was able to log in as normal.  I wonder what is going on with Vista and AT&T?

Re: Access Local Only with Vista Wireless

We were able to use our Vista laptop on wireless, as well as two Vista desktops on a wired connection.  Can you please run "ipconfig /all" without quotes in a command prompt and copy/paste the results?  (To copy in command prompt, right click then click on 'Mark', highlight, then press Ctrl C to copy)

Re: Access Local Only with Vista Wireless

When I gave command ipconfig /all , I noticed that my DNS was fixed at 192.168.1.1 (I never did this and I don't know how it changed from auto detect to this fixed one).. It was ok with my earlier router but with RG it should be 192.168.1.254.. I went and changed it to "Obtain DNS address Automaticaly" and vola, its back again.. Thanks KK for giving the direction..

Re: Access Local Only with Vista Wireless

That was what I was looking for.  It sounded like either the default gateway or DNS server weren't set to the right IP.
