AT&T cancelled our U-Verse voice service and customer service can't help restore it.

I came home from work on January 3 and our phone was dead. I spent more than 12 hours talking and chatting to customer service over the last week. Our regular service and number still have not been restored. We have a temporary phone number instead. We'd like our regular number back; it's been our number since 1992.
I've researched and found this has happened to other people, including Liz Weston, a personal finance blogger, who wrote in 2010: "My home office phone number got swiped by another carrier. For three long weeks, AT&T promised, and repeatedly failed, to get my number back. I spent hours with AT&T's call-center representatives in the Philippines, all of whom cheerfully assured me they could solve my problem. It hasn't been three weeks yet for me, but I was told by an AT&T supervisor last night (after midnight in Houston, afternoon in the Phillippines) that everything that was done this week was wrong, they will have to start over, and my service will be active again on January 15, 12 days after the original mistake.
Are there any resources at AT&T that can resolve this problem? I have lost all confidence in their customer service.

I would recommend that you send a Private Message to the ATTU-verseCare Community Specialist team. One of the specialists will respond to your PM shortly. Please look for the flashing envelope at the top right of the page for your response from a team member.
They WILL get your issue corrected.
