4 HD Streams?

4 HD Streams?

Hi all.  I'm new to the forums.  We just got U-Verse installed yesterday, and the tech said that we should be able to get 4 HD streams at once.  However, my profile is set to the 1SD / 3HD.  

 

I saw a post earlier where a Community Manager on this board was able to assist someone in investigating to see whether they could truly get 0SD/4HD and then got it changed for them.  I was hoping someone could assist me with that as well?

The profile is generally distance based, greater than a certain distance, placed on a 25 M profile with max internet speeds of 18/1.5. This lowered profile cannot support 4 HD streams and thus provisioned to 1SD/3HD.
A normal shorter distance install is 32M, allowing the extra HD stream (about 6M per stream).

If your not set correctly David will be able to assist,please be aware he may not.
To gain a better understanding you may wish to download Somejoe7777 Uvrealtime

This tool will allow you to gain access to reports from your RG and post here if needed.

Please note the above is discussing your provision setup, if your question is to record 4HD, currently most markets are set to only allow 3HD to be recorded,the 4th recording has to be SD.
If have 2 or more receivers, on a 0SD/4HD profile, may record 3 HD but need to watch the 4th HD on the non DVR receiver.

Same issue for me. I have 5 receivers but can only get three HD signals at once.  It's pointless for me to get more receivers at this stage.  I truly dont like Time Warner's product, but at least with them I can wire to every room and get basic HD service.  I'm hoping ATT is working on a solution?  SD TV shouldnt even be in the conversation given today's technology.

Please keep in mind that we provision each household with a maximum amount of network bandwidth based on the capacity of the network and the distance from the home to the serving terminal in your neighborhood. Stream management limits the number of streams so that it won't exceed the available bandwidth and/or cause problems with the quality of your service.

Hello everyone,

 

I am located in Salinas, CA and have yet to see the 4th HD stream show up. My question is, what should the readings look like in system information?  Mine say Stream 0SD/4HD (wan)  1SD/3HD (ingress), bandwidth cap 31947200 (wan),26960400 (ingress), egress profile 20000000 0SD/3HD.

 

I'm pretty sure I'm on the 32 profile, just checking in to see if I should keep waiting.

I currently have the 0SD/4HD profile:

 

Streams: 0SD/4HD (WAN); 0SD/4HD (Ingress)

Bandwidth cap: 31947200 (WAN); 31947200 (Ingress)

Egress Profile: 20000000. 0SD/3HD

 

The ingress profile indicates what your DVR can handle.  As you can see, my ingress in 0SD/4HD and my ingress bandwidth is higher.

 

When you see the higher ingress profile and higher ingress bandwidth, you'll know you have it.  That and you'll be able to record 4 HD programs at a time.

jerryp5503 - Your numbers say you have 4 HD streams coming into the house & the DVR can handle three. This is why you put the DVR on the least used TV - so you can watch the fourth HD on another TV when the DVR is maxed out.

If you are talking about the fourth HD on the DVR, we are all waiting for the rollout to continue.

It's crazy that SOMEONE (installer?) doesn't explain to new customers that they DO have 4HD streams.  While the DVR is limited to recording 3HD streams, they can watch the 4th on a STB.  Smiley Frustrated
