using thunderbird to receive att.net mail

I've tried to set up Thunderbird to send and receive my att.net mail. It keeps telling me that the
server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections.  I've tried setting the server information a dozen different ways to no avail. Can someone tell me what I should be putting in to get it to work?

I've tried...

smtp.att.yahoo.com

smtp.att.net

smtp.att.net.yahoo.com

mail.att.net

mail.att.yahoo.com

I've tried SSL setting and NONE

I've tried use secure authentication and I've tried it without

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Re: using thunderbird to receive att.net mail

Try this, enter account settings:  server name (in server settings window)    pop.att.yahoo.com       Port should be 995.  User name will be your email address@ att.net.    Security settings should be SSL/TSL

under outgoing server settings:   outgoing server name, in the box click add and enter (your email address)@att.net - smtp.att.yahoo.com    Port should be 465      Security should be SSL/TSL.     Make sure the outgoing server name you enter is the default.

That's how mine is set.
