Due to the way a hub works, it is unable to work for the U-verse IPTV signal, either a gigabit switch or a switch that supports multicasting is required, a hub can be used to connect computers though

 

Unlike a switch, a hub "floods" every port with the same packets (versus just sending packets to a designated port like a switch does), because of this, a hub isn't fast enough to support IPTV

 

As for a switch, a typical 10/100 switch can't support the multicasting used for IPTV, therefore a 10/100 switch needs to have multicasting support, a gigabit switch should be able to support the multicasting even if it doesn't have multicasting support, so that may be your best bet
