can't reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/

Why can I no longer reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/ ?  I have confrmed (from a friend with Comcast) that the site continues to be broadcasting, but I can't get it from any of my computers behind uVerse.

Would love to have my music back!

Re: can't reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/

I can't get to it just putting the address into Firefox - is that a link to a streaming server such as a Shoutcast server or is it an actual website?  (noticed the port is 4200 instead of 80 which is why I ask and I can get to a login page if I take off the port and just use 80)

I can do a traceroute to it though and it appears to go through:

For what its worth it looks like sc stands for shoutcast and I tried opening that using play URL in Winamp but it just stays on connecting to host.  I don't have U-verse either (used to though), I have FTTP up here in Wyoming and use TCT.

Go back to shoutcast and see if you can click on the same music feed as the address may have changed as I've seen that happen at shoutcast.  That's why I never bookmarked a music feed, just my jazz genre page, then I click to listen to what I want. :smileywink:

I hit that link and it brings me up to their username and password login.

Re: can't reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/

Go to the bottom of this page at streaming choice and you'll see ATT Uverse is not one of their public peering partners, but ATT Global (DSL) Network is a public peering partner.

I have u-verse, and that page works for me.

http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/ in my web browser shows the shoutcast adminstrator/DNAS status page, like it should.

Re: can't reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/

Thanks - that probably is the issue.  I know I used to be able to listen during SBC DSL days (using WinAmp mostly) but now neither WinAmp nor the Flash link bring any music....

At least the Windows Media player works - not my preferred method, but at least I can get my music.

Kinda weird, though -

Thanks all.

Re: can't reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/

The way the internet works, your ISP doesn't need to be a peering partner or even remotely related to a site and their peering partner.  Of course, it is always better if the site is a direct peering partner with your ISP since it equals less hops and less room for error.  TCT for example isn't a peering partner of Streaming Choice nor is their peering partner.  Instead, it finds peering partners of peering partners until it ultimately hits the destination.  Think of it as the situation where you don't know a particular person, but a friend of a friend knows that person and can get you in contact with them.  It goes from TCT's network to 360's network then from there to Hurricane Electric's network and from there finally ending up at streaming choice.

Re: can't reach site http://sc2.streamingchoice.com:4200/

Well, imagine that!  It's working again!  Listening to my favorite tunes in xm-play again!  I did contact AT&T helpdesk, but they were no 'obvious' help.  Who knows if something they did fixed it....

Happy again...
