Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

My computer is able to recognize the router and it's address, yet for some reason whenever I put in the IP address (192.168.1.254) it tells me page load error, it's been doing this on all of my computers since I upgraded to the U-Verse package. It's a bit upsetting not being able to forward ports or anything. If anyone has any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue I'd greatly appreciate it, currently I've got a headache trying to figure it out myself.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

Try this:  http://192.168.1.254/mdc

You will need the password off of the RG.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

Check the output of "ipconfig /all" on your computer.  That assumes it is a Windows box.

Look for the internet gateway IP.  That should be the IP to use to contact your RG.  It is normally 192.168.1.254, but that could have been changed.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

Are you using Open DNS? I can't access parts of my 2Wire gateway either if I have hardcoded the Open DNS servers into my computer.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

BeeBee's link above should work for everyone, no matter who you've hardcoded your DNS for. :smileywink:

Edit: Just switched my DNS to openDNS and the link worked just like I said it would,  Something is

wrong in your system setup if it doesn't work. You can not access it w/gateway.2wire.net addresses.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

Thanks for the replies, I started checking it out and figured out that it was the switch they put in when they upgraded my setup to U-Verse. Unfortunately addressing my issues with pulling up my 2wire configuration page cut off my television service, I guess I'll need to give AT&T a call to get this set up properly

Chris, I have the same problem.  When I switched to open DNS to try to speed up my e-mail access I discovered that I could no longer access the RG.  I could still access the stats.  But,  not the address that gives me all the RG settings and read-outs.  When open DNS started to slow down and became really not much better than what I had before....I switched back.   Yahoo has some real problems in this area IMHO.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

Phil, see if you can get to this page that will list your software version and can see if still 5.29.135.47?

No password required. :smileysurprised:

Edit:  About 7-10 days ago I switched back to the RG for DNS and have not had a single problem

relating to DNS since then, think they fixed the DNS problems w/VDSL2 download.

Strange.

You should be able to access the RG at 192.168.1.254, or at 192.168.1.254/mdc for the full management page.  No DNS lookup occurs for that, so whether you are using OpenDNS should not affect it.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

I'm having the same problem, probably for around a month, with the minor difference that I don't see connection errors, it simply never responds.

I haven't switched DNS, indeed I haven't changed anything since it last worked.  I've power-cycled the RG, to no avail.  I can ping it and it responds.  It serves DNS just fine.  If I try a different port it refuses the connection immediately, but ports 80 and 443 accept connections but then never do anything.

It's weird.  It operates just fine in every normal way, but I can't reach the settings page.  Good thing I don't have to change any settings.

Re: Unable to access the 2wire settings page.

I'm seeing the same thing while using OpenDNS. I can access the RG stats page but nothing more. If I change my network settings on my computer to automatically find DNS then I can access everything in the RG.
