Horrible Customer Service!

I ordered internet service and received the "self install" kit in the mail.  I later found out that my building will not support AT&T wiring, so I called AT&T to mail the box back.  I was on the phone for an hour just trying to get someone to tell me where to send it because the Address Label was NOT in the box like they said it was supposed to be!


I mail it back and I get a bill later for $82 for the things that I already mailed back!  Another one hour call to AT&T to someone who said she would REVERSE the charge and for me to ignore the bill, so I did.


Now I get a COLLECTION NOTICE in the mail!  Another ONE HOUR call to AT&T.  She said she would reverse the charge AGAIN and transfered me to Accounts Receivable to see if they will make sure it would NOT affect my credit since it was AT&T's mistake.  I spoke to Kayla {Personal content removed for safety} who was so rude and did not want to help me!  I asked for her supervisor and she wouldn't give a name to me!  She said "there are too many supervisors so I can't give you a name"!  She said "you need to call the collection agency yourself"!


This was NOT my mistake and AT&T should take ownership, but instead they try to make me fix the problem with the collection agency! 


Who do I complain to?  Where do I go?  I'll try Consumer Affairs and the local news stations first.

I hope you requested and received a return signature when you shipped it so that you can prove AT&T actually DID receive the equipment.  That would be powerful evidence on your side.  I would never ship something this important without requesting  a signature from the shipper.....which is usually UPS.

I had an issue and called customer service and the tech that answered the phone could not help so My wife ask for a supervisor.Ten minutes later he transfered us and while explaining the situation to the supervisor,his name was Keith,he hung up on her.We have contacted customer service several times with the promise that some one would call her back,even giving us specific times.It has been over a week and noone has called her  or me back.That is the worst customer service I have ever had.If they don't take care of their customers than someone else will.My wife has said that if someone would call and talk to her about what happened that she would return to ATT.I am not sure I would allow that at this point.Too many broken promises.
