I NEED MORE UPLOAD SPEED WITH MY UVERSE

I NEED MORE UPLOAD SPEED WITH MY U-VERSE
For a job that I could be doing remotely from home the technical requirements are a broadband connection with a cable or DSL Internet Service Provider with a minimum upload and download speed of 1.3 Mbps.
I have U-verse and get for the download speed about 1.5 MB but for the upload speed only around 0.76 Mb. AT&T tells me that in my area I will not be able to get any higher upload speed even if I upgrade to a higher plan. Does anyone know a solution to my dilemma? Could DSL give me better speed?

Thank you in advance?

The max upload speed is what you are at now, nothing you can do about it on ADSL 2+ non-synchronous.  You'd need something like a synchronous 3M/3M business plan to get the higher upload, if they could even give it to you at your distance.

Might be able to get a higher upload speed from cable. 😉

I appreciate the replies concerning low upload internet speeds.

Cutting to the chase, what does AT&T need to do to provide faster upload speeds?

Invest in some more infrastructure?

I agree about the upload speed.  Can't even get a good picture from my webcam

to my son using Skype and vice-versa.

I'm on the 18/1.5 plan, but it's too asynchronous; the whole bandwidth being a mix of the two,

is severely compromised.

The word y'all are looking for is symmetric (and asymmetric).  Your speeds are asymmetric, meaning unequal.

The ADSL2+ and VDSL2 protocols are both, I believe, synchronous protocols.

 thanks for the correct word.

I don't mind, in theory, that its asymmetric. The problem occurs because it's too one sided. It's out of balance for real world usage.

Thanks for the reply.
So, what does At&T need to do to balance out the system and increase the upload speed?
Thanks!

AT&T refuses to even provide DSL in my community of some 17,000 people where it has the telco monopoly, so we have to pay $400 a month for a T-1 line that provides 1.5mb/sec upload and download service. It is your only option other than moving to an area where there is actual competition for providing internet access service.

The T-1 is actually a dual DSL loop which enables the higher upload rate than could be consistently obtained with a single DSL loop. It took a month to get the service up and running and you need to be able to do all your in premise wiring and don't expect anyone at AT&T to provide any technical support. Their people can't even provide a usable wiring diagram or specify which color wire from the street serves what purpose for the T-1 link. Large companies have their own network wiring specialists but for smaller companies you need to hire third party support.

Might add as well that the suggestion to go to wireless is a very simplistic one. Where we have our business there is no AT&T cell service, only Verizonwireless, and even then we would be paying $140 a month for only 20GB of data. We were using Millenicom (before it was taken over by Verizon) and paying $200 a month for 40GB of data but that ceased to be an option last year.

When we used AT&T wireless for our business I used to spend an hour each month getting over billing charges reversed which I saw happen month after month after month. Verizonwireless also has a reputation for billing overcharges - check out their online user community.

yeah vz is bad about the overcharges, I have cell service with them and have seen a few of those

great service but man, hehe they hunger for the wallets of the public.
