BlackBerry Priv Custom Ringtones for Contacts?

When will you fix the fact that you can no longer assign custom ringtones to contacts on Priv. It is not a Blackberry problem . I have relatives with Priv on T-Mobile and Verizon and do not have a issue. I paid premium dollars for phone and expect a answer and a fix.

Hey @jrsquire,

Good evening and welcome to the Community Forums! I can see how not being able to use a function which other carrier’s phones has can be concerning. I will be happy to send this up the correct channels.

After doing further research, it looks like we’ve been experiencing this issue since the Marshmallow update. We apologize for the inconvenience, as I know the importance of having custom tones set to specific contacts.

For the mean time, I would suggest trying different third party ringtone apps to see if you can get bypass this last update provisioning.

Best regards!

I've had so many updates over the last couple years of owning this Priv and the customized ringtone feature still doesn't work. Is this ever going to be fixed? Would hate to have this one feature break my 13 year long relationship with AT&T.

I really don't think AT&T cares about their customers. I have talked to countless people at AT&T and they absolutely refuse to fix problem I am contemplating going back to Verizon.

Hello @BBfan4life and @jrsquire,

After checking into not being able to use custom ringtones with your contacts, I do see it is still an ongoing issue. I do hope this will be resolved soon so you can use this feature to help distinguish callers without needing to view your phone screen.

Thank you for your many dedicated years to AT&T, and I look forward to the resolution for this!

Have a wonderful rest of your day!

How disappointing!  My previous super cheap MetroPCS service (part of T-Mobile) had custom ringtones.  Now I buy an expensive Blackberry and I must go BACKWARDS in technology to use it with such a major company??

What else do I have to give up to use AT&T?  If this proves too annoying not being able to identify who's calling by the ringtone, I will just switch phone companies.

Why is this such a hard fix that it's taken years and it's still not done?

I have a Blackberry PRIV that I purchased through ATT (Nov 2015). It is running Android 6.0.1
It will not play any ringtone (the ones that came with the phone or ones I have created) assigned to a specific contact. It will allow me to assign a ringtone that I have created/downloaded as the default ringtone and it will play the ringtone without problem but if I want to have it play a different ringtone for when I get a call from my Mom (either a tone which came with the phone or one I created) it will allow me to assign it through the "Edit Contact" and will show that my Mom has a different ringtone assigned to her calls but when she calls it just plays the default ringtone. I was able to set a different alert for her text messages but not for phone calls. Again this is a problem even when I try to use the ringtones that came preloaded on the phone so it is not an issue of where the ringtone is saved (SD vs internal memory) or file type. The other responses seem to say it was an issue with ATT not providing an update. Has anyone found a fix?

I'm still waiting for a fix for this, however, I'm beginning to think this is a lost cause. It saddens me to even think about switching phones or carriers. To some this is a silly feature to enjoy, but it is very important for me to have a distinguish so I can have my son's school identifiable for when they call. My son is special needs and there are a number of people I communicate with, all have different needs, and having this feature would be very helpful. Regardless, it should be a feature that works, especially when there is a setting for it!
