After PRIV update unable to assign ringtones.

The PRIV update was successful. However after the start up. I no longer can assign ringtones to contacts. The Zedge app is still installed and updated. I can edit contacts for a specific tone but when the call is received from that contact, it is the notification ringtone that is heard. A trip to the AT&T store was no help at all. I was told I may have to just live with it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. It hasn't worked since upgrading to Android 6.0. I don't think AT&T cares. It is an AT&T problem because this feature works on all other carriers.

Hello @thbond and @Chromeram!

Thank you so much for reaching out to the forums to let us know your still having issues assigning a custom ringtone. We know how important it is to be able to customize your device to fit your needs. It would be a pleasure to help you out today!

Since you are up to date on the software, I recommend a master reset on the phone. You can find the steps on our Device Support page. Once you reach the page you will want to select the Blackberry PRIV > Tutorials > Troubleshoot > Reset Device. Prior to performing a master reset, you will want to make sure you back up your phone. This way you won’t lose any important information!

If you find you are still having issues setting custom ringtones, Blackberry support may have some other options available for you. When you reach their contact page, you’ll want to select Technical Support > BlackBerry Smartphones & Smartphone Software > BlackBerry Smartphones.

Please don’t hesitate to come back if you are still having issues! Hope you have a wonderful week.

I'm assuming this master reset would require a total reload / setup of all my apps and settings?
...with no assurance that this will correct the problem?

Master reset doesn't work. I have been down that road. Don't waste your time.

It's April 2017 now and custom ringtones are still NOT working. I recently got a Priv, locked to AT&T that has the very latest update and still no luck. If AT&T is going to sell phones then they need to support them! This issue was fixed by Blackberry and pushed out to carriers. This works on the other carriers, but not AT&T. I guess it's time to finally jump ship and go to another carrier.

I don't think AT&T cares. Unless you buy Crapple or Samsung....

It is now the end of June 2017 and after many updates from both Blackberry and AT&T, I still cannot customize my ringtones for my contacts. I want to know who is calling me for various reasons. One of which is my son's school and his special ed teacher. He has autism and has challenges that require a phone call to me (mom) and sometimes for me to pick him up. I need to know who's calling me also because I have a disability and use assisted walking devices. I don't like to feel rushed to answer thinking it's my son only for it be a call I could have otherwise missed. But my reasons shouldn't matter. I paid hundreds of dollars for a reliable and fully functioning phone to a very reputable provider that I have been with for over 13 years. I would hate to have to take my business elsewhere because you do not want to support us BlackBerry users. I need the buttons on my phone as touch screens don't always work with my fingers/skin due to the oils and other skin issues. Blackberry is the only manufacturer that carries phones easy for me to hold and use and type text information onto the screen. Again, I shouldn't have to justify my using a BlackBerry device and I pay enough monthly to have service and full use of all features. In this day and age with technology, we should be able to do anything with our phones without relying on someone to push out updates. So please work with us and help us resolve this feature. Thank you!

Hello @BBfan4life,

Currently BlackBerry has not pushed out an update to us to resolve this issue. We are still awaiting a patch which will allow customizable ring tones for different users. We do apologize for the inconvenience this is causing at this time.

Have a wonderful day!

Lies, BlackBerry pushed out the fix for this issue the month after it was discovered. AT&T did not push out that update. Blackberry users with other carriers are not experiencing this issue. Pull your heads out AT&T!
