Problem Connecting WD My cloud Hard drive to the U-Verse router
I have recently been upgrated to the U-Verse service from ATT and im having a problem Connecting WD My cloud Hard drive to the U-Verse router through ethernet cable. My last resort was to connect a Linksys E4200 straight into the MyCloud after disconnecting from the U-Verse router it linked with green lights on both ports. I was able to access the hard drive through the linksys router that has no internet and the data is there. I need to connect the hard drive the the u-verse router can you guys please help me to do so?

Hi @MyWD2015,
We are sorry about the issues you are having with your WD drive, but we will be glad to help. With the WD drive working with the Linksys and not the U-verse gateway, it sounds like the WD drive may have a statically configured IP that does not match the IP address pool for the U-verse gateway. You can change the pool or the IP address of the WD drive to see if that will help. Also, you can try configuring your Linksys to connect to the U-verse gateway and set it in passthrough or bridge mode. Below are posts that go over it. Just choose the one that matches your gateway.

Any other help with this? I have the NVG589 and WD My Cloud is not recoognized. You can't access the dashboard for the WD and change to Static IP without first setting up the device via network connection, and you can't access the device via the NVG589...catch 22.
Logging into the NVG589 the WD mycloud is listed among devices but led on the swith on the back in amber and WD setup software cannot find the device...help?
Are there settings to change in on the NVG589?

Has anyone helped figure this out? I have the same issue. I've called at&t. They told me to call WD. I get bounced back and forth. I won't be a uverse customer long with this issue. I also can't access my HP printer webpage now. We have more than 1 provider beating at&t to the market wit hlow cost gigabit internet to the market. I understand you want to keep your network safe but there's a better way.

I'm still being bounced back & forth between AT&T & WD!!! I've had Uverse for 4 days and I'm already ready to go back to the horrible TWC!!!
I also had to be on the phone with Apple (3rd tier) for total of FOUR hours to get my new MacBook to connect!!
This is just crazy!!

Try taking a look at this site for help with your WD My Cloud. It should be simple steps to setup and should be no changes needed to be made to your U-verse router. If this is the only device having trouble on your local network then it the WD My Cloud may be defective. We apologize the inconvenience in this matter.

I read in this forum that someone purchased a netgear switch. I purchased it at Best Buy for 34.00. I figured if it didn't work I would just returned it. Luckily it resolved my problem.

What Netgear did you go with? I'm facing the same issue.
Was it just plug-in-play (switch to gateway, WD to Switch) and the network recognized your WD at that point?

I used my Linksys router and it's been working WONDERFULLY!! I have just found out that it is NOT password protected and I can't figure out how to do it! Linksys won't help because it's a few years old.
Maybe I should just get a switch like others for $34?? OR does anyone know how I add a password to protect access?
Thanks in advance!

I am having the same problem. I've been bounced around between AT&T and WD. WD claims that AT&T needs to open ports 80 & 443. Port 443 is open, port 80 is closed. I've asked AT&T to open those ports and keep getting disconnected with no return phone call from technical support. This isn't rocket science. There is an issue with the AT&T Router and the Firewall. I've been through 2 AT&T Routers and 2 WD mycould's in an effort to resolve this. Let's get this figured out. I can't change my IP address on the mycould without the router granting access to the device. HELP!!!

Hi @BushLeague,
We apologize about the issues you are having, but we will be glad to help. Do you have a wireless receiver? If so, then port 443 will directing traffic over to the wireless receiver. It will show open in your system, but to the wrong device. For port 80, if it is still showing closed, it may be open but the WD is not listening on it. Try testing by connecting through your internal network to see if there are any problems.
