Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps

I spent hours speaking to reps on 6/8 was told they would give me a brand new iPhone 5s for 50.00 plus tax no
Additional charges on my account whatsoever because of what I went through in the store and no my bill came in with upgrade fees prorated charges I never would have agreed to when my contract just ended. I'm livid. It's 100 percent fraudulent and against the law. I agree to recorded calls for this purpose but when it's against their company they don't go back to the recorded calls. It's fraud

Upgrade fees are not negotiable and are written, in writing in user agreement. They're included as part of any upgrade.

Re: Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps

Can someone from corporate please contact me is anyone accountable for what their att employees tell customers??? They conned me into paying them on my credit card to send out the so called "free" phone for being a loyal customer and for lack of support in stores. If your calls are recorded please tell me why you don't go back and listen to them?? Your company is getting a horrible reputation. I asked the att rep to explain what I paid for last month to prove a point and she could not answer my question. I asked what my 50.00 dollars plus taxes went to She did not know...I asked her what credits were on my account were for even though I knew and she had no idea and because she couldn't answer me she hung up on me and said the manger will call me before the end of the day. Last night at 7:30 pm Chantelle at att said she was removing the 45.00 fee from my bill and would try to get the prorated amount removed as well. Today Pamela at Att said we are not allowed to remove a upgrade fee. Am upgrade I never wanted I only accepted because they were sending me a new phone for the trouble I went through. Less than 24 hours I was told two conflicting things. You need to train the employees correctly and not give out incorrect information and stand behind what your employees promise to your customers.

Re: Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps

Dear att employee I did not upgrade my phone. My post is about being lied to I was told I was being sent a brand new phone for the trouble and inconvenience I went through I never wanted to upgrade my phone. I was told 50 dollars plus tax for them to send me a free phone for my inconvenient no additional charges or ch ages to my bill whatsoever because I just purchased a 5c on my own the day prior which cracked in one day because of the garbage that the att store sold me that was supposed to protect my phone. My brand new 5c was cracked so for the inconvenience they told me to just pay 50 plus tax and to accept the agreement on my Email and they would waive all charges. I had to wait for rebecca to call me back after 9:30 pm on 6/8 after she got it approved from her supervisor and she did call me back and took my credit card info for the 50.00 plus taxes charges. Go listen to the recorded phone calls.

From one customer to another, no one owes you a phone if you broke yours, no matter when it is broken.

Phones are the property and responsibility of the owner/user, not the carrier.  They are not an extension of your service with ATT.

I don't know why ATT would agree to send you a free phone.  ATT is a provider of cellular service.  They sell phones and cases as a matter of convenience to customers.  They are not responsible for the quality of either, the manufacturer is.

If you think the phone was faulty, you need to deal with Apple.  If you broke it, you need to file an insurance claim if you have insurance.  Otherwise, plan on shelling out about $100 to repair the phone yourself.

If this doesn't set well, by all means, quit ATT and go elsewhere.  All carriers expect customers to be responsible for their own devices.

If a new phone was sent, it still have to be activated and the activation fee is for all activations, whether it's upgrade or BYOD, etc.

Proration of bill only applies when a change of plan happens. Was there a change in the plan during the billing cycle? A different gigabyte allocation?

No we didn't change our plan but my monthly charges just ended on two phones I purchased through att I paid for them for 24 plus months. Might have been 28 or 29 months. It just ended.

If you phone broke after you paid them off, assuming with Next Program, you will never get a brand new replacement, the 14 day buyer's remorse is way past. You need to file an insurance claim if you got insurance.

Re: Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps

That's not what happened at all. The problem is I'm being billed for stuff I didn't agree on over 150 dollars. No I did not ask for att to pay for phones after 2years. I was not supposed to be billed all these extra charges per rebecca (att employee) on 6/8. She was very helpful and every att employee I've spoken to since has no idea what they're doing. Can't explain my charges or what I paid or what happened or they're covering it up. Was told by Pamela's today that Krystle the supervisor would call me back by the end of the day. Guess what ??? No one called me at all.

Re: Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps

On Next it's 30 months on the longest plan. Next 24 is a 30 month plan.

There are no "hidden" charges, everything is detailed in the billing. That includes. Mobile Share Plan cost, per line fees, extras like insurance and any and all device payments. Taxes are detailed per line as well.

Saying that HARDWARE has a set cost does not mean there isn't any plan or other fees that may potentially be there.

Then att should have said that on 6/8 instead I was scammed into paying them over the phone and was told different listen to the recorded phone call before you email me and you will hear with your own ears the lies I was told. Rebecca spoke perfectly good English as do I there was no miscommunication. Thank you. She proposed the phone to me I did not ask for it she just asked if I would accept Att's offer for the new phone for the 50.00 plus tax. Please tell me what I paid for then?

Re: Has anyone else been scammed and lied to by att customer service reps

lpolmann....My post about a teribble experience was met by the same thing.  I can only assume that the people that are replying are either employees or friends/families of employees.  David606 and the administrator are just like the agents that I spoke with...they're either liars or are uneducated in AT&T's policies.  I've had MANY activation fees waived!  So to say that they can't is a lie.  I used to think that the 2-year contracts were to recoup their costs for the phones when you could get an iPhone or Samsung phone for $2-300.00.  But now that they make you pay full bore for them, it feels more like its a way to trap you from leaving after they've screwed you.

@Sandman192   You cannot sue your cell carrier.   It's in your terms of service.
