Weekly Off Topic Thread #297

I see that WOTT 297 apparently was one of the threads that got lost so I'll start it again.  At least it's not showing on my screen and I think it was Sunday when I posted it.....but I can't remember for sure.

We were wakened in the wee hours by heavy rain, thunder and winds pounding the north side of our house.  Vinyl siding is rugged and long lasting but, unlike wood, it tends to resonate like a drum head when a hard rain and high winds hit it broadside.  So it was noisy in here.  We received 1 1/2 inches of rain.  That's good.  Tomatoes will love it and the grass may turn back to solid green again if we get enough more moisture to bring it out of dormancy.

Things sure didn't cool off.  The outside temperature is back up to 96 degrees this afternoon.  More thunderstorms expected....possibly tonight and/or tomorrow night.

Well my furlough will end early!  Premature sequestration?  Smiley Wink  While I will miss the day off, I do not miss my pay check being ~20% short.  Two more "Free Fridays!"

Phil - yup.  This entire furlough deal has been surreal.  The first two "Furlough Friday's" seemed like no day that I have ever experienced.  We've all experienced a  holiday that fell midweek and have said "today feels like a Sunday (or whatever)."  Those first two days just felt weird.  Half off our staff is furloughed on Monday and the other half on Friday.  We are paid bi-weekly and since all this started, no one knows if it is pay day week, or timecard week, lol.

Re: Weekly Off Topic Thread #297

Second night in a row with rain.  1.5" Monday night.....1.7" last night for a total of 3.2".  Some areas got quite a lot more and local flooding has been a problem.  Not here in our town however.

An old problem has returned.  We're beginning to get audio drops.....nearly always in a commercial or at the beginning of a commercial.  Dead silence.  Audio won't come back until we change to another channel and then change back.  That restores the sound.   This problem used to be a biggy but we have not noticed it for about a year or two.  Now it's back.....and nearly always on channel 1021....FNC.  Otherwise we have no problems with TV or Internet.  Anyone else having this again?

Phil--I read either on this forum or on the other AT&T site that someone was complaining of no audio on the free on demand shows.  I have not personally noticed it here.  When did it come back for you?

Edit: Here it is.

This has happened to me as of tonight but its kinda neat it mutes the sound of the commercials and then returns audio when the show fires back up but what was not neat was colored snow a few minutes later with audio only which required a hard boot to fix.
