Good morning and good Friday. Since Phil must be sleeping in and I have not started one of these in a while:

Welcome to the WOTT 280.

Because today was the Rangers home opener and we were playing the Angels, gotta love our fans, this happened every time Josh Hamilton came to the plate.  Rangers win 3-2, Josh went 0-4 with 2 strike outs and 2 week fly outs.  Reminded me of the last month of the season last year when he looked like he gave up on the Rangers.  So far he's 1-12 on the season.

Re: Weekly Off-Topic Thread #280

We have company....#2 son and his wife....who drove over from Illinois for a visit.  Been a bit distracted.

Ok for the Rangers.  They won.  Hey, hey.  So did the Royals....surprise, surprise.  My good friend from Arlington, TX and his wife drove all the way to Surprise, AZ....pulling their travel trailer....to attend a game or two at Rangers spring training camp.  He fell....broke his hip.....and spent the week in a hospital in Phoenix where they performed surgery and did a partial hip join replacement.  Don't think he ever got to a game.  Now, tomorrow he heads back to Arlington and the Rangers are already home and opened their season.  It's a crazy life...the way things happen.

WOW....U-verse was super slow last night.  It would take around 5 seconds just to change a channel and nearly impossible to get the program inormation to come up.  Wonder what was making everything so slow.  There were no signal interruptions or pixelating or anything hurting picture quality.   Just slow, slow, slow.   Seems better today.

Nothing like having company to screw up my routine.  Forgot to feed Alfie this morning and when I finally DID remember and got his food mixed up for him he would not touch it.  All excited over company and keeping track of them.

1 PM and it is almost 72 degrees.  Did not think it was ever going to warm up.  This feels really good.

Wow, Alfie is way too patient. Our crew eats at 5AM and 5PM. If I'm not out of bed by 5:15 all four of them gather at the foot of the bed shaking their heads and scratching their necks. This isn't because they itch, it's to get all their collars and metal tags jingling as loudly as possible.

Come dinner time they actually start getting ready around 4:15 with getting antsy and rambunctious, and if you aint walking towards the mud room (feeding area) by 5, they're literally beside themselves. Oh, and the walk to the mud room, is a leaping, running, yipping, yapping, dance of happiness. Double that response if you're carrying a pan, plate, or bowl that might contain leftovers from our dinner.

By the time I'm in there and start putting scoops in the bowls Cosmo is actually crying in anticipation. Once the bowls are full, all chaos halts and the room falls silent and all eyes are on me. With just a sideways glance from me, everyone sits (if not already sitting), then they wait for the word. Once you give em the go-ahead, you can almost hear the wind as the ribs barrel out and the stomachs suck in as they inhale their food. After they're done, it's musical bowls as everyone rotates to another bowl to make sure nothing got left behind by somebody else.

Phil, our U-Verse does this quite often.  Some days, it's superb and some days it's superbly slow.  No rhyme or reason.  We're used to a late night slow down (maintenance?) but it's now all hours, when it happens.

Re: Weekly Off-Topic Thread #280

This big ole' house with 9 1/2' first floor ceilings needs cleaned top to bottom big-time after burning 7-8 cords of firewood in my living room woodstove so far this year. The dust from the firewoood and cleaning the ashes out is to the point where I couldn't keep up with it on high places. So it was nice to throw a few screens in the big windows and air the place out today. So now the fine yellow pollen from the pines/elms/maples, which has already covered my Jeeps, is now blowing in through the screens. So now my eyes are burning/using drops and my nose is running. I also have about a thousand pine cones on my drive which just fell/blew out. Living in the woods is really nice but it does have it drawbacks.

I'm also having some freezing/pixelating problems but believe I may have narrowed it down to one STB and switched some around. It may be the same coax cable the tech was supposed to fix last time and really need to run all cat5. Of course the problem is in the bedroom where my wife watches TV and I need for her to latch into TS instead of me! LOL.

I am getting real sick of U-verse adding spam/sales channels constantly and having to hide them on 3 different STB's and a DVR. Grrr....

Charlie's pretty non-demanding when it comes to eating but my 10-11 year old male cat is relentless. His screaming for wet canned food, when he already has a bowl full of dry food, is enough to drive you nuts! Then he will go in and wake my wife at all hours of the night which is really obnoxious!

Congrats to Louisville Cardinals for winning the national champs basketball game 82-76. I was backing Michigan since they're a Big10 team but Louisville was just too strong towards the end of the game just like they were in the final-4 game.
