Comcast extremely disappointed in their customer service.  And everyone says UVerse is bad.

Last Friday of Tax Season.  Cannot wait for this headache to be over with for another year.  Between IRS issues and a late start of the season tax preparers are much more grumpy this year.  Hopefully next year will start on time with no late changes to the tax laws.  Been in the mid-80's around here the past few days and I've been stuck inside, have to mow the weeds tomorrow before our HOA issues me a warning.  So far haven't found a good weed killer for my lawn and being next to Corps of Engineer property doesn't help in the weed control area.

I used to have what I'll call crab grass in my St Augustine.  According to the "dudes" at Lowes since St Augustine is considered "broadleaf" and so is the crab grass they didn't have anything that would kill the weeds without killing the St Augustine.  I tried Scott's Weed and Feed and that was a no go.  Ended up having to pull what i could by hand.  It never worked very well because I coundn't seem to get all of the roots.  About 4 years back I finally called TruGreen and they have the majic stuff to get rid of them.  They did warn me it would turn the St Augustine yellow once they trated each individual weed, but it did work and of course the grass eventually did turn green again.

Just this year I switched to Scott's Lawn Service   becuase like everything else the price keeps going up every year until you call to cancel.  Smiley Wink  TruGreen was $73 plus tax and Scott's is $42 plus tax.  Same thing is being done by both so I'll take the $30 off one.  That's for treating about 5000 sq ft lawn.

No more weeds now and if I do see any I just make a phone call and they come out at no charge.  Can't beat that!!

Ya, I have a full St. Augustine lawn as well. (Only grass that will grow near the gulf coast). Forget just about any kind of weed killer -- none of them will kill the weeds without also killing the ST. Augustine. Like you said, it's because St. Augustine itself is practically a weed.

You just have to get the gloves on and pull 'em out. Only thing that works.

If you also let the St. Augustine grow high and thick, it will also tend to choke out other weeds, they can't get a good root system going.

Yep cut high chokes the weeds and don't have to water as much.  Water here in Santone, as I call it, is almost like gold due to the drought.  I've had $300 water bills in the summer.  If you flush your toilet, take a shower, AND water your grass, oh boy!!  I get charged $25 just for the privilege of having a water meter connected to the city water supply.  Then I think the first 1500 gallons is a decient rate, then from there watch out.  I think it's something like a 200% increase.  It's nuts.

Anyway, I have the lawn guy cut mine on "sky scraper" to try to minimize the drying out.   I have some thinner spots in the backyard and they tend to need mush more water.  It's shadier  so they don't grow as thick.

What I don't understand is if a cruise ship, or navy carrier can treat sea water (desalinization) what is stopping the city of Santone or any city for that matter of piping water from the gulf and treating it?  The water utility is already building a desalinization plant to treat brackish water from some aquifer south of town.  What happens when that runs out?  Just do it right and build a pipe from the gulf and water worries are over.  But hey who am I?  LOL!!!

I have Bermuda here and we were recommended by Calloway's to use Bonide.  We tried it on the front yard and can't see that it makes a difference.  My wife got me a Weed Weasel and I'm going to use it to get some of the bigger ones.  Then I'm going to shampoo my yard with dishwashing soap and try it again with a 10 min watering to let it soak in.  Last time we applied it we didn't water after applying because it wasn't our day and it was supposed to rain.  My father in law has recommended using some natural treatments from Jerry Baker and he's always had one of the best yards in the neighborhood.

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful and we had a high temp. reading in the upper 80's.   WOW...and it's only April.  Then today heavy clouds moved in and we were expecting some heavy stuff.  But, while we did not get anything too bad....we did get some wind, lightning and thunder.  Along with wonderful rain.  I have not checked the gauge yet.  Will do so in the morning.  Our grass is greening up rapidly.  My wife mowed yesterday.  She keeps trying to keep me from doing the mowing but I insisted and she finally relinquished the controls.  I cranked the valve to its highest setting on my portable O2 tank and set out to mow.  I made about 6 swipes of the yard and had to give it up.  My blood oxygen saturation had dropped to less than 80% and my leg muscles were really getting wobbly.  A disease like this Pulmonary Fibrosis a real ego buster.  That yard work is supposed to be mine to do.....the big, strong guy in the house.  Right?  Well it don't work that way anymore.  She is same age as me (actually 6 months older) but I think she got longer life genes from her mom's side of the family.  She is still a pretty strong lady.....the most wonderful blessing in my life.

Anyway....our ornamental pear trees are in their glory and the magnolia bush is blooming.  Can you believe that there is a possibility of snow this coming week?  I hate to argue with the TV weather guys but I really doubt that we'll see any.  If we do I'll post a picture.

I've got a question for y'all.  I'm having an often reoccurring problem with Yahoo Mail.  When I choose to forward an E-mail to friends...often humorous or political....I've been getting a message that the E-mail cannot be sent.  No reason given....no link to find a reason.  So I resort to moving over to Windows Live Mail and have no problem there.   I have a sbcglobal.net address.  So what do you think is going on here?  Censorship perhaps?   I have long complained that AT&T should dump Yahoo and use some other mail service....or develop its own.  Obviously there is no movement in that direction.   Anyway....I am just wondering if I'm the only one who is having this problem.   Discussion?

We use something  called the Weed Hound.  It's no longer available at Home Depot but I think Ames's sells them.

We have LOTS of bare spots from the droughts of 2011 and 12.  I bought some Patch master seed/mulch.  I can't even get it down for all of the mud and water logged areas AND this morning we got a dusting of snow.  Can't win..........
