Holy cow!  The month of March is disappearing 'round the bend.....

This spring has been quite a winter.  Ha!    But it is gradually warming up.  The cold spells are still sweeping down from the north but less frequently and with less intensity with each surge.

It's a little early....just after 11 PM but I thought I'd get this WOTT underway.  Sure don't have as much activity here as we used to have.

I'm still experimenting here....with our new "smart" TV and the interface with our home network, the Internet and regular U-verse service.  Keep running across new features.  Some useful....some not.  I've played around with comparing the TV's behavior while connected via Wi-Fi and then I tried cabling it to the port on the back of the STB.  The performance is quicker and we get full 1080i HD while streaming from that data port.  When using the Wi-Fi we find that the HD is often restricted to 720p and often even just SD.  So currently we have it connected to the Ethernet cable from the STB.  I've read the many past comments that AT&T doesn't recommend this.  But why not?  It seems to me that it performs quite well when connected this way.    I have clear memories of our 1st TV.....a table model Motorola with a 12" round CRT.....black and white of course.  That was about 1957.  Things have sure changed over that passed 1/2 century.

OK....hope y'all have a great beginning of spring.   More later.

We awoke this morning to more snow with promise of high winds in the forcast. Headed to SD so we'll see how it is over there. This has been a long winter. It's been nice enough for shirt sleeves for the past week which I thoroughly enjoyed. Oh well, it will be over when it's over. Have a great weekend everyone.

Just keep all that nasty cold weather up north.  We don't need anymore cold weather in Dallas. We could use a lot more rain though.  Our lakes are running at less than 70% of normal capacity right now and we're under some pretty strict watering restrictions

Many of you know that I work for DFAS, in Indianapolis.  DFAS-Indy is the former US Army Finance Center.  Well, the Army has said that it plans to move 1800 DFAS jobs from DFAS control to a new site at Ft. Bragg, NC.  Wonder if they can slow-play it about four years and some change, until I retire? Smiley Sad

Oh wow, Dave.   Well......they do have some nice golf courses around Fayetteville.Smiley Wink   Actually....it is rather beautiful country in that area.  But, of course, one can't eat the scenery.  Although I applied for a job many years ago.....in Colorado Springs....where the employer pretty much insinuated that I and my family could do just that.   I didn't take the job.Smiley LOL

We'll see Phil.  The more that I read and discuss, I thuink it may be the Army wanting it's back office folks, back at the installations.  Makes sense in a way as the conflicts are winding down, the Army has more of CONUS / peacetime feel to it and therefore more control.

Had a good friend of mine who worked for DFAS here in San Antonio before they shut it down/moved.  He was already retired Air Force and had been working at DFAS for probably 10 or 12 years.  Once they closed up shop here he really retired!!  I believe that they offered him a position where your at Dave.  He turned it down of course.

he turned down Indy's weather?  WHY?  I will say that SA sounds like a perfect three season town but I will pass on SA in June-August. Smiley Tongue  At one time DFAS had 32 Operating Locations (OpLocs), maybe that it was the Army wants to get back.

Glad you did, Randy.  Things have changed on the forum.  Some of us old-timers are not sure it's all for the best.  But, then, isn't that always the way things go?  Anyway.....don't stay away so long from now on.
