Another "cool" front blew through Indy last night with a reinforcing short of cool air. Lots of wind and temps today in the 60's. Maybe some light frost tomorrow. We are still way down in the rainfall department but we got half an inch Wed. afternoon and that was as much as we received in all of August!

A little nippy here.
|Dew Point:||47 °F|
Actually that was an hour ago and it's now 48 which is the 2nd lowest temp in Ohio.
Only got up to 75 yesterday and will be in the high 70's today. Beautiful weather pattern we've been having but won't last long. Will be in the low 90's Fri with thunderstorms on Sat.
Sure seems like the days aren't as long and it's getting dark a whole lot earlier.

Wow! That's heavy coat weather!
I think it's getting darker earlier, too. We've been using our outdoor *pet* green anole for sunrise/sunset.
He's sleeping MOST nights still on the hanging basket chain. It's too funny because he comes home about 30 min. before it gets dark; and he starts to wake up around 6A.
We've gotten so used to seeing him, we worry when there's a night he doesn't come to the basket. Free pest control, lots of shade and water from sprinklers.

Just about flannel shirt weather in the house if you don't have any heat on and the wife insists on having a window cracked.
Neat that Anole is still on that chain, synced with sunset/sunrise, and I remember the pic.
There are a couple Katydids hanging around our back porch door/light for about a week. Just waiting for a 2" long flying grasshopper to get in the house and try to catch him.

edit: inserted/posted photo and nothing there when actually posted including photographer's name. Same quirk/problem with the "Insert/edit image" feature when I tried to insert the photo from another site using some other size other than "Full size". Had to close the feature with nothing posted and it leaves a code installed which screws up/erases another photo installed using full size along with the text.

It's another hotter-than-a-firecracker day here with 104 predicted, even higher heat indices.
I should correct my statement about the pet anole, he now spends his time on the copper wind chime. Turns himself brown while he's on it, then as it gets close to daylight, he changes to green for hunting.
The katydid has a head like a grasshopper, and sort of looks like one that is wearing leaves.

Actually got some rain today, in Indy. The weatherman was sure that the rain showers in Central and Northern IL would fizzle before they got here (as they usually do) but they held together. Maybe a tenth or two. We have had 1.5" of rain in the last 60 days. Same type of drought that we had last July and August.

It seems to be dry all around us but northern Illinois has had more than enough rain this whole spring and summer. We've picked up about 5.50 inches so far in August.

The end of 100+ temps looks like it's finally going to come to an end. If it does, we'll fall 2 days short of tying the record for most 100+ days in a year at 67, record is 69 in 1980. Fell 2 days short of consecutive 100+ days earlier this month. Kind of cruel to go this far and fall short again, but will be nice to finally have some cooler temps.

In our case the hundred degree temps are back. We had a high of 101.5 degrees this afternoon. Tonight at 9 PM it's 84.7 deg. and 67 % relative humidity. Not a breath of air....leaves on the trees are absolutely still.

This labor day weekend It will be 90's Ugh! for san jose, ca area. I can't wait for the fall mouths to come for cooler weather.

Our Fall weather pattern disappeared yesterday as the heat/humidity came back. Three days in the 90's then back to a cooler pattern again on Monday.
90° F | 68° F
94° F | 70° F
92° F | 68° F
83° F | 59° F
76° F | 52° F

Small/spotty rain showers rolling through now and just enough to jack up the humidity and make it feel hotter.
Interesting drought map jfw, thanks! Have no idea why there's such a distinct difference right on the Ohio/Indiana/Michigan borders. Were 7"-8" above normal for rainfall and Indiana/S. Michigan is "Abnormally dry". Out rains must be coming down from the N and picking up humidity/moisture from the Great Lakes.
Local news weatherman mentioned some kind of depressing forecast stats last night. 40 days to 1st frost, 70 days to first snow and 100 days to 1+" of snowfall. Guess we better enjoy this weather while we can.
Whole lot of Hummingbirds around here and mixed up some new solution (4 parts water to 1 part sugar) yesterday in my two feeders which each hold a quart. Like a bunch of flying bullets when you walk outside with the hummers all pumped with sugar!
At least they are also feeding on all the flowers in bloom to get the nutrients they need.

Hottest September weather in 57 years, in Indianapolis.
At 3:44 PM, it hit 99 degrees in indy. First time that it has been that hot in September since September 6, 1954 when it also hit 99. SLIGHT chance that it might break 100 but I doubt it. It did that about 4 weeks ago and that was the first time in 23 years.

Right now it's 95 degrees out with a dewpoint of 77, major sweatsville. My poor neighbor's AC picked a bad day to decide it had enough, the repairman's been there since 9am replacing the outside unit, looks like now it's finally up and running.

I thought yesterday was bad. Today's high here in our little town was 102.2 degrees. Still short of our summer high of 108 a month or so ago.
