Another "cool" front blew through Indy last night with a reinforcing short of cool air. Lots of wind and temps today in the 60's. Maybe some light frost tomorrow. We are still way down in the rainfall department but we got half an inch Wed. afternoon and that was as much as we received in all of August!

Here in Chicago we are on the verge of setting another record, 4 straight winter seasons with snowfall of 50+ inches and our normal is around 36.

Almost as high at 73 here but drops like a brick when the sun goes down. It is like being in Miami during the day during the winter.
I will take this weather.
It is so much easier working outside not to be cold or dripping sweat into the electronic equipment. You have to learn to dress for winter in the morning and late spring in the afternoon. Will loan warmer temps now if you return the favor of cooler temps in July.

We set another record for the amount of snow in one month. Got a dusting over night and then about a half inch of snow this afternoon. We will have a warm up Sunday and Monday but rain on Monday. We really don't need a thaw and rain.

36 here and will drop to just under freezing tonight.
Looks like we're headed to a warm up and only a couple more days of rain.
It's been a while since it's been warm enough for a thunderstorm come Monday.

Thanks and we can use some 50's temps.

Well...while we're playing "can you top this"......it's 37 degrees here at 8 PM....and we've had heavy rain....hail....and lightning and thunder spread out over the afternoon. Now I hear thunder again. What next? More snow? I sure hope not.

72 here and we need rain, badly! As long as you don't get flooding or tornadoes, guess you'll be OK.

Had beautiful sunny weather today with high of 60. Nice.
Not quite shorts weather yet since still a little breezy. But Charlie did act like he wanted in the house because he was hot. He'll be shedding that winter coat soon...
Still 59 here at 11:30pm but the rains/storms have been hitting pretty hard. Strange storm rolling through because I'm seeing lightning flashes but not hearing any thunder. Bizarre and you would never hear the lightning coming if it was going to hit you. Like you would hear it coming to begin with.

But you hear the thunder right before the lightning strikes--I was a victim in the past!
We would like some of that rain...will trade you 5 degrees in higher temps for it?

Did the bolt of lightening hit you in the head?? j/k
You must have heard the thunder from another lightning flash since light travels so much faster than the speed of sound.
Start with Sound: speeds at say 300 meters / second.
Next: Light traverses space at 298,000 kilometers / second, say 300,000,000 meters / second.
So, in conclusion: lightning/thunder= 300,000,000/300 = one million times faster.

This is Texas, it's bigger and things happen faster!
All I know is I heard the thunder, seconds later there was a strike--missed me by about 5 feet from the hit (lost a big Oak tree). I still get ringing in the ear closet to the strike. No voices in my head...yet.

It was probably the tree getting blasted you heard.
Now let me get this straight - you get a ringin' in your ear everytime you get close to the place of the strike??
Congratulations! You earned the Liz badge!
