Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

Another "cool" front blew through Indy last night with a reinforcing short of cool air.  Lots of wind and temps today in the 60's.  Maybe some light frost tomorrow.  We are still way down in the rainfall department but we got half an inch Wed. afternoon and that was as much as we received in all of August!

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

Temp will be 90 today instead of 94 yesterday which seemed super hot. Was at a drive-thru window yesterday and saw a small green tree frog climbing up a stucco wall that had to be 100+ degrees and he sure was in the wrong place. Would have caught him but too fast.

Hey Spd, interesting on the Wasp Freeze Spray and is that stuff is pricey. But found it here and a whole lot lower price than other places. Even Amazon wants $17/can plus shipping.

Kind of funny the following instructions are on the label and wonder what rocket scientist came up with this common sense advice?

"To prevent dying insects from falling on skin and clothing, avoid standing directly under nest being treated." Smiley Surprised

I would bet if you could hit a cockroach with the freeze spray it would kill them. But may be real pricey they're so fast. I read if you drain your water pipes during cold winter temps, and turn the heat off, you can kill all the cockroaches in your house. Has to be below 28 degrees for 12 hours. Good luck clearing your family, pets, draining aquariums, and all the other work involved when you do this.

We had thunder boomers or Hail Cannons this morning. In fact I thought Fort Bragg was having artillery practice. Not kidding. Last year I kept hearing explosions and a friend said it was big guns going off. At one site in Cordova a tree fell on the house next to the RT knocking out the power for a while. Blew the fuses to several tranformers but our power company placed new fuses before I had to get a generator. They make my life easier for me.

Rain Rain Go Away!  Got almost 2 inches here since yesterday morning, some of our southern suburbs got 5 inches with serious flooding of streets and basements. Weekend supposed to be dry with temps in the 70's.

Actually have 100's in the forecast coming up in DFW area.  We've been mighty close to it as it is.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

Had big storms roll through both this morning and tonight. Now I know why they call it "rollin' thunder" because it just went on and on echoing everywhere tonight. Pretty awesome standing on the outside porch listening to it.

More storms tomorrow as the cold front/jet stream drops down from the North. We'll finally get our Spring temps next week and didn't have much of a Spring at all this year.

Yeah, Uni.  Ain't it great?   We also had rolling thunderstorms overnight.....and rain.  Got .80" by my gauge.  Alfie got me up at 7 AM to go for our walk.  It was 67 degrees out there.  When we got home, 45 minutes later, it was 66.5 deg. and right now, at 9:11 AM it is 69.2 deg.  The rain washed the forest fire smoke away and the sky is a gorgeous deep blue.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

The nice weather they were predicting for yesterday never materialized, cloudy, foggy, off and on drizzle most of the day with temps in the 50's. Sun's out this morning and got fingers crossed for a nice day, need to trim some bushes and cut the grass.

Hired a guy to stain the exterior of the house, he said the job should take about 4 days and now going on 2 weeks. He was able to work a couple of days, then we had the heat wave with 3 days well into the 90's, then 3 days of storms and heavy rain and the dying tree in the front yard that was supposed to be removed last Thursday is still there, the rain postponed that job too. :smileysad:

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

It has been raining here for the last hour. Most of that time the weather warning and radar map has been on the bottom of the screen. In the last few minutes lighting may have hit the TV Station I was watching because they lost their network feed for a few minutes. The feed  was still good on another station.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

We've had beautiful sunny weather here the past couple days with temps in the mid-70's and low humidity.

Kind of funny how the days can have such low humidity and the cool nights/mornings so high.

Clear
52 °F
Clear
Humidity: 97%

Changes expected Thurs when the warm front moves back up from the South.

Spent most of the day Monday spraying Roundup on my 800'-900' drive. Left shoulder is about ready to fall off after carrying a 3 gal (25 lb - full) sprayer around. Should get a backpack sprayer like we used to use at work but may not be worth the investment as infrequent as I spray. Not that pricey though.

Already spent $30 on Roundup and ran out. Will need to get some more today and would like to buy some Roundup Poison Ivy spray since it's 4' tall in lots of places next to my drive/yard. Seems like regular Roundup won't kill it but I refuse to pay $38/Quart for the Poison Ivy spray. These are concentrates you mix yourself and not RTU.

Not trying to kill all the Poison Ivy since it is good for wildlife. Just don't want it in areas where people may come in contact with it. Plus if your dog goes through it and gets the oils on his hair better watch out when petting him. Smiley Surprised

Feel your pain, man!  Wonder if you could rent for a reasonable price?

100 today and tomorrow, 99 next few days; this is getting old and as odd as our colder-than-usual winter.  Still no rain in sight.  Has me worried with Hurricane season; by the time Aug./Sept. get here, we'll be in real trouble.

Wasps are now in the grass here!  One was flying on the front porch yesterday (all nests down) straight into the storm door glass!  Then he was sniffing around the fake flowers on the porch!  They're looking for me!

Going to dr. today since the sting on my chest is still pus-filled and may be infected.  Be careful of the stinging insects in this heat!

And please let us borrow some rain from you other folks. Smiley Sad
