Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

Another "cool" front blew through Indy last night with a reinforcing short of cool air.  Lots of wind and temps today in the 60's.  Maybe some light frost tomorrow.  We are still way down in the rainfall department but we got half an inch Wed. afternoon and that was as much as we received in all of August!

Uni,

Yep, those are end of July/beginning of August temps we're having.  No cooling in the forcast for the next few weeks now. Good thing I like hot weather as opposed to cold.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

In case you Houstonians missed it, local video about Hurricane Carla and Tropical Storm Allison in 4 segments:

http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=weather/hurricane&id=8159984

Yes, I was here for Carla, I am old, LOL!  She put the fear of hurricanes into me at an early age.

I have a bunch of photos of flooding from TS Allison in the downtown tunnel (our underground, climate-contolled mini-city under the tall office buildings).  And they show (segment 3) how the Addicks/Barker reserviors were overwhelmed 13 billion gal. capacity vs. 32 TRILLION gal. that we got!

Still hot and dry, windy and fire risk.  So hot outside now, it's hard to breathe.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

I'm glad the warm weather is finally here.  Today we reached 90 degrees Smiley Happy good times, good times.  I know some areas don't have any rain and others have had too much.  I thank God for the fact that I am here to see temps that I have been longing for for a long time.

We don't think it is hot until it hits 100

I totally agree, but most people can't handle or aren't interested in temps getting that high.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

All-time record for Houston today, and car temp was 101.  Still no rain and open fields here smell like hay. Smiley Sad

...New record high temperatures at Houston intercontinental and
hobby Airport...

...Earliest 100 degree day of the season for intercontinental...

Houston Intercontinental Airport reached 100 degrees this
afternoon...which is a new record high temperature for today. The
previous record high temperature was 97 degrees in 2008.

This is also the earliest 100 degree day of the season...which was
previously the record high of 100 set on June 10 of 1902.

Hobby Airport has reached 98 degrees today...which breaks the
previous record high temperature of 97 degrees set in 2003.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

I just had to raise the temp to get the AC to cut off with all the insulation in the attic the temp holds better. Even when in the mid 90s.

Re: Let's Talk About the Weather - The New Temp Thread

I only did the work when it was 40 degrees when I started. By the time it got too warm I was tired of crawling around and usually had run out of insulation. I don't know how many times I thought just 2 more rolls. Only work that should be done in January and February.

97.3 degrees and 44% relative humidity. Looks like a long, hot summer ahead.
