I couldn't respond directly to your post, perhaps because you typed too much text in the Subject box.  

 

Here's a response ....

 

If you're getting any DirecTV channels with that D10 then the dish is correctly aimed at the 101º satellite.  

 

But many SD channels  now are either "letterboxed" (black bars across top/bottom) or "cropped" (picture chopped at left/right sides) in order to provide a suitable image for older 4:3 TVs from the single 16:9 HD video feed.  If your TV has "video size" or "format" settings, you can use the TV to enlarge the video.
