Remote setup for Samsung hw-f450

I have a samsung hwf450 sound bar, trying to make rc65 remote work this thing instead of tv volume. I can't get it to control it at all. What gives?

Did you off try doing a code search

Move the top slider to av1 press and hold mute and select wait for flashes press 991 wait for flashes press 3 then channel up

Each time you press channel up it will send out a new code if the bar Powers off its programmed.

Then press and hold mute and select wait for flashes 993

Select this will lock the volume

I did that until I couldn't feel my thumbs. No luck. I saw some conversations where with the right receiver/remote setup there are more possibilities. i went the menu/settings/remote route, no luck there either.

just tried these. Some look familiar, when I program the number in, I am pressing the volume button downtown see if it controls the volume, the television volume appears on the screen, even though the slider is in the av1 position. What's going on with that? Is that normal?

I have a felling that you are going around in circles for no reason.  Get yourself an RC66X and use the following trick

With remote and receiver in IR mode, do the following:

1) Go to menu and set up remote like you normally would.

2) Go Select Samsung

3) Select HWD350

4) Point the remote at the Directv receiver.

5) Wait for code to load and then test the receiver

with an "x" model remote the receiver can program the remote automatically without typing any codes. The HUGE plus though is that the codes are in the receiver and DirecTV can keep adding codes via software update instead of having to replace the remote every now and then when the codes on the on board chip of the remotes becomes obsolete.

I have a feeling that you have been led to a wild goose chase

Mu advice is for you to get an 'X" remote,

If I get a new remote, will it be preprogrammed to the receiver or is that a whole new ordeal?

all remotes are "pre-programmed" to the DirecTV receiver by default, unless you change settings on the receiver.

Ok, so any directv remote you order, will already be programmed to work with any directv receiver? Unless changed to be room specific within the programming menu? Sorry for the redundancy, just making sure.
