Samsung S9 can not restart after 5G update on Feb 5 2019

I received an update on my phone early this morning at approx 2am, for an update to allow access to the new 5G network. I accepted. After the update, the phone rebooted and froze. It would continuously freeze and reboot. I've tried repeatedly to get to the boot menu without success. I can only get so far as the logo and then a reboot. Looking to see if I can get any suggestions or to see if anyone else is having this problem. Thanks

Hello @posterboyharlot,

We can definitely provide you with some troubleshooting steps for when the screen on your wireless device is frozen or unresponsive. We recommend using our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool to fix this. Simply select your device and the issue, then follow the steps to find a solution. Let us know if this helps.

My wife's phone is doing the same thing after the update. Was on phone for an hour with tech support and they are sending a new phone, under warranty.  The screen on her phone turns black with a blue speck in the middle of the screen and the message light flashing in the corner. Only way to restart the phone is to hold the power button and volume down button at same time, for about 10 seconds. Sometimes it does it after putting it on the charger, sometimes on its own.
